Gene family expansions and contractions are associated with host range in plant pathogens of the genus Colletotrichum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Many species belonging to the genus Colletotrichum cause anthracnose disease on a wide range of plant species. In addition to their economic impact, the genus Colletotrichum is a useful model for the study of the evolution of host ...

Pyran Rings Containing Polyketides from Penicillium raistrickii

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2016
Five new pyran rings containing polyketides, penicipyrans A–E (1–5), together with the known pestapyrone A (6), were isolated from the saline soil-derived Penicillium raistrickii. Their structures were determined by interpretation of NMR and HRESIMS data.

Convergent Total Synthesis of 16β‐Hydroxylpseudobufarenogin

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
We present a novel convergent strategy that integrates Pd/Ag‐promoted Suzuki–Miyaura coupling with Ir‐catalyzed radical‐relay cyclization, enabling the first total synthesis of 16β‐hydroxylpseudobufarenogin. This approach is broadly applicable to the total synthesis of various oxygenated bufadienolides by simply modifying the fragment structures ...

(2‐Phosphinophenyl)aluminum Dichloride Complexes as Intramolecular Al/P Frustrated Lewis Pairs for Ketone, Ester, and Imine Activation

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Three 2‐phosphinophenylaluminum dichloride complexes were synthesized and characterized as novel intramolecular FLPs. These FLP systems exhibit high Lewis acidity and effectively activate challenging substrates including aliphatic ketones, imines, and esters. DFT analysis revealed that strain release and Al–P dynamics govern their reactivity. Abstract (

Push–Pull Ynamines and Push–Pull Ynamides: Synthesis, Structure, Reactivity, and Application

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Push–pull ynamines and push–pull ynamides, which carry an EWG and an amino or amido group as EDG, are highly interesting classes of EDG‐EWG alkynes that have been intensively studied due to their exceptional reactivity. In this review, the synthesis, structure, reactivity, and application of push–pull ynamines, push–pull ynecarbamates, push–pull ...

Violapyrones H and I, New Cytotoxic Compounds Isolated from Streptomyces sp. Associated with the Marine Starfish Acanthaster planci

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2014
Two new α-pyrone derivatives, violapyrones H (1) and I (2), along with known violapyrones B (3) and C (4) were isolated from the fermentation broth of a marine actinomycete Streptomyces sp.

Telomere‐to‐Telomere Genomes Reveal that Multiscale Evolution Shapes the Largest Metabolic Arsenal of Diaporthe Fungi

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 27, 13 May 2026.
This study presents the first telomere‐to‐telomere genomes and population resources for Diaporthe pathogens, uncovering the largest known fungal repertoire of secondary metabolite gene clusters. Structural variations and horizontal gene transfer drive cluster diversification, while specific rapidly evolving clusters control virulence, offering novel ...

Evaluation of anti-microbial potential of 3-ethenylcoumarins and their precursors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Coumarins, classified as benzo-α-pyrones, are part of a large class of secondary phenolic metabolites derivatived from cinnamic acid, widely distributed in the plant kingdom but can also be found in fungi and bacteria.
