Systematic Review of Intravenous Ceftriaxone Administration in Animals

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Ceftriaxone is an antibiotic frequently prescribed in veterinary medical practice due to its effectiveness against several pathogenic microorganisms responsible for diseases in different animal species. Objective To select scientific articles from the academic databases PubMed and Web of Science that analysed the pharmacokinetic ...

Drugs that act on both G protein‐coupled receptors (GPCRs) and kinases: potentiation of effects, side effects and general aspects of drug pleiotropy

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 13, Page 3471-3483, July 2026.
Abstract Background A drug designed for a specific target often interacts with multiple targets, either unintentionally or as part of its intended mechanism of action. This has been called pharmacological pleiotropy or polypharmacology. There are key endogenous ligands such as ATP, GABA and glutamate that act on various proteins in humans. Furthermore,

Role of Gram‐Negative Bacterial Infections in Acute‐On‐Chronic Liver Failure

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 46, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Acute‐on‐chronic liver failure (ACLF) is a systemic disease characterised by an acute clinical deterioration of pre‐existing liver cirrhosis leading to multiple organ failure due to systemic inflammation. It may be triggered by the translocation of bacteria and bacterial compounds across the gut barrier.

Antibiotics in Veterinary Ophthalmology: Resistance, Stewardship, and Emerging Antibiotic‐Sparing Strategies

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 29, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing challenge in veterinary ophthalmology, particularly in cases of bacterial keratitis, where progressive stromal infection can threaten vision and globe integrity within hours to days. This review synthesizes current evidence on pathogen distribution, antimicrobial susceptibility profiles, multidrug ...

Antibacterial Activity of Heteropolytungstates Against Proteus mirabilis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 18, 22 June 2026.
We investigated the in vitro antibacterial activity of several heteropolytungstates against P. mirabilis, a drug‐resistant pathogen. All tested polyanions inhibited bacterial growth, with the Preyssler–Pope–Jeannin polyanion P5W30 exhibiting the highest activity (MIC = 0.78 mg/mL).

Electrochemical Sensor Based on Molecularly Imprinted Polymer for Cefuroxime Detection in Biological and Environmental Samples

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 13, Issue 12, 17 June 2026.
A highly sensitive electrochemical sensor for cefuroxime (CFR) is developed using a molecularly imprinted PEDOT film integrated with AuNPs and MXene on MWCNT‐SPE. The platform enables selective detection down to nanomolar levels and performs reliably in complex matrices, offering a promising approach for rapid monitoring of antibiotic residues in ...
