SUSCEPTIBILITY AND DETECTION OF EXTENDED SPECTRUM β-LACTAMASE ENZYMES FROM OTITIS MEDIA PATHOGENS [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2013
Otitis media is the bacterial infection of the middle ear usually accompanied with inflammation, effusions and pain. It can present clinically in two major forms: Acute Otitis Media (AOM) and Otitis Media with Effusion (OME) and it is one of the leading cause of hospital visits and antibiotic prescriptions amongst children and even adults.

Image_6_Exploring broilers and native fowls of Andaman and Nicobar Islands as a source of β-lactamase-producing Enterobacteriaceae even with limited anthropogenic activities and docking-based identification of catalytic domains in novel β-lactamase variants.JPEG

open access: yes, 2023
ObjectivesThe present study was conducted to detect the occurrence of β-lactamase and biofilm-producing Escherichia coli, Salmonella, and Klebsiella in broilers and native fowl reared in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India.

Three Component Thio‐ and Carboboration of Alkynes: A Modular Route to Functionalised Bicyclic Boronates

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Three‐component thio‐ and carbo‐boration reactions to form functionalised benzoxaborinines and benzazaborinines are reported. The nucleophile scope includes thioethers, thiols, and (hetero)arenes. Mechanistic studies revealed a disparity between thioboration using thioethers and using thiols.

Detection of cfxA2, cfxA3, and cfxA6 genes in beta-lactamase producing oral anaerobes

open access: yesJournal of Applied Oral Science, 2016
Purpose The aim of this study was to identify β-lactamase-producing oral anaerobic bacteria and screen them for the presence of cfxA and BlaTEM genes that are responsible for β-lactamase production and resistance to β-lactam antibiotics.

Nucleotide sequence of the gene encoding the active-site serine β-lactamase fromStreptomyces cacaoi [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1988
Abstract The gene encoding the extracellular active-site serine β-lactamase of Streptomyces cacaoi previously cloned into Streptomyces lividans , has the information for the synthesis of a 303 amino-acid precursor. The β-lactamase as excreted by the host S.

Dual RNase and β-lactamase Activity of a Single Enzyme Encoded in Archaea

open access: yesLife, 2020
β-lactam antibiotics have a well-known activity which disturbs the bacterial cell wall biosynthesis and may be cleaved by β-lactamases. However, these drugs are not active on archaea microorganisms, which are naturally resistant because of the lack of β ...
