Mass spectra of 1,2,3-triazoles

The mass spectra of substituted 1,2,3-triazoles [RTR′, (1)](R′= H, CO2X, COR″, pyrazolyl, or isoxazolyl) are discussed. For a wide variety of structural types, P+ is always strong and [P+ 1]+ is often of significant intensity. Subsequent breakdown patterns are strongly dependent on the substituents R and R′.

A vibrational assignment for 1,2,3-triazole

I.r. spectra of 1,2,3-triazole in the vapour and liquid states and in solution are reported and discussed. From these, and by comparison with the spectra of other simple five-membered heterocycles, vibrational assignments are proposed. The i.r. spectra is satisfactorily interpreted in terms of an asymmetric structure.

Pharmacological Significance of 1,2,3-Triazoles

Click chemistry is not a single specific reaction, but was meant to mimic nature, which also generates substances by joining small modular units. The 1,3-dipolar azide, alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reaction catalyzed by copper, as nearly quantitative and easy to execute has emerged as the leading example of “click chemistry”.
