Tailored Watson–Crick Pairing Partners for Xanthosine in RNA

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
RNAs with kappa‐xanthosine (K–X) or 2‐iminocytidine‐xanthosine (2imC–X) base pairs form stable double helices that have higher melting temperatures than those of the A–U or G–U references. Access to these novel 2imC‐modified RNAs is possible through the mild, selective chemical conversion of 2‐thiocytidine RNA precursors.

Design, Synthesis and Anti-fibrosis Activity Study of N1-Substituted Phenylhydroquinolinone Derivatives

open access: yesMolecules, 2012
Pirfenidone (5-methyl-1-phenyl-2(1H)-pyridone, PFD) is a small-molecule compound acting on multiple targets involved in pathological fibrogenesis and is effective to increase the survival of patients with fibrosis, such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis ...

α,β‐Alkylation Reactions Catalyzed by Ruthenium Triphenylphosphine Complexes Bearing Substituted Pyridine–Quinoline Based Ligands

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
A series of new air‐stable ruthenium(II) bis‐triphenylphosphine complexes comprising substituted pyridine–quinoline ligands have been developed via a one‐pot procedure. The new complexes successfully serve as scaffolds to promote catalytic CC bond formation, more precisely the α‐alkylation of ketones with primary alcohols, via the borrowing hydrogen ...

The Preparation of Some 1-(Nitrophenyl)-2-pyridones and -thiopyridones [PDF]

open access: yes, 1957
In connection with a study of certain reactions of furfural with m- and p-nitroaniline, to be published later, samples of the hitherto undescribed l-(3\u27-nitrophenyl)-2-pyridone (I) and l-(4\u27-nit rophenyl)-2-pyridone (II) were prepared for purposes ...

Synthesis, Characterization, and Electrochemical Properties of Tri‐ and Tetranuclear CoIII‐Oxo Complexes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
A series of three tetranuclear and two trinuclear Co(III) carboxylate complexes are synthesized and thoroughly spectroscopically and electrochemically characterized. The relative stability of the tetranuclear versus trinuclear complexes is investigated by density functional theory calculations, and the infrared and ultraviolet/visible spectra are ...

Perchloratobis[1-(1,10-phenanthrolin-2-yl)-2-pyridone]zinc(II) perchlorate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2009
In the title mononuclear complex, [Zn(ClO4)(C17H11N3O)2]ClO4, the ZnII ion is coordinated in a distorted octahedral geometry. The dihedral angles between the pyridine rings and the mean planes of the 1,10-phenanthroline ring system in each of the 1-(1,10-

Catalytic Dehydrogenation of Lauric Acid and a Potential Use in Polyester Synthesis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, EarlyView.
A three‐step reaction sequence was developed to synthesize renewable lauric acid–based dimethyl esters. The sequence consists of a catalytic dehydrogenation of saturated fatty acids with molecular oxygen as oxidant, an esterification with methanol, and a dimerization reaction with dithiols via thia‐Michael addition.

Reverse Regioselective Dicarbofunctionalization via Anti‐Michael‐Type Addition

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 25, June 17, 2025.
A reverse regioselective dicarbofunctionalization of acrylamides via anti‐Michael‐type addition is reported. Various (hetero)arene nucleophiles and carbon electrophiles were incorporated in a manner opposite to conventional regioselectivity. A key feature of this reaction is the formation of an alkylpalladium intermediate, which enables the achievement

One‐Step Aqueous Synthesis of Glycosyl Pyridinium Salts, Electrochemical Study, and Assessment of Utility as Precursors of Glycosyl Radicals Using Photoredox Catalysis

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
Unprotected glycosyl pyridinium salts may be accessed in a single step from the corresponding unprotected sugar in aqueous solution. Whilst meta‐ and para‐substitution is well tolerated, ortho substitution of the N‐heterocycle inhibits product formation. Electrochemical studies revealed reduction potentials in the range of −0.9 to −1.4 V.

Insights into the Role of Transient Chiral Mediators and Pyridone Ligands in Asymmetric Pd-Catalyzed C–H Functionalization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Mechanistic investigations uncover a novel role for 2-pyridone ligands and interrogate the origin of enantioselectivity in the (+)-norbornene-mediated Pd-catalyzed meta-C(aryl)–H functionalization of diarylmethylamines. Observations from kinetic analysis
