Quantitative analysis of barley (1 → 3), (1 → 4)-β-glucanase isoenzymes by high-performance liquid chromatography

open access: yes, 1989
The two isoenzymes of (1 → 3), (1 → 4)-β)-glucanase (EC 3.2.1.73) from malting barley were separated by high performance cation-exchange chromatography. Separation was achieved in less than 20 min with high recoveries of enzyme activity.

Candidate Gene Identification with SNP Marker-Based Fine Mapping of Anthracnose Resistance Gene Co-4 in Common Bean. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Anthracnose, caused by Colletotrichum lindemuthianum, is an important fungal disease of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris). Alleles at the Co-4 locus confer resistance to a number of races of C. lindemuthianum.

Intermolecular Carbon–Carbon Naphthalene Coupling Involves a Radical Mechanism Driven by Cytochrome P450 in Alternaria alternata

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
1,8‐DHN is an important intermediate to form complex aromatic ring systems. Phenol‐coupling reactions are important for the dimerization of two molecules. Here, we show that a fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme catalyzes specific C─C bonds. ABSTRACT Dihydroxynaphthalene (DHN) derivatives are precursors of biologically important molecules, including melanin ...

Beta-glucans from biomass of plant and microbial origin

open access: yesПищевые системы, 2019
The aim of the present study is to explore the transformation of (1→3)(1→4)-β-D-glucans of rye biomass by Aspergills niger and accumulation of (1→3)(1→6)-β-D-glucans in the microbial cell wall.Biomass from rye grain was obtained as a result of enzymatic ...

Utilization of exogenous enzymes in beef cattle creep feeds

open access: yesJournal of Applied Animal Research, 2020
Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the inclusion of feed enzymes into beef cattle creep feeds. In the first one, the following treatments were tested in vitro: (1) 100% bermudagrass (GRASS); (2) a mixture of 75% bermudagrass and 25% creep feed ...

Enhancing Meat Quality Through Dietary Fiber: Insights Into the Gut Microbiota‐Derived Short‐Chain Fatty Acids‐Muscle Axis

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Dietary fiber (DF) modulates meat quality through the gut‐muscle axis by reshaping gut microbiota, improving intestinal integrity, reducing inflammation, and regulating muscle metabolism. These mechanisms influence muscle fiber characteristics and post‐mortem biochemistry, thereby enhancing tenderness, juiciness, color, flavor, and nutritional value of

Application of enzyme matrix values for energy and nutrients to a wheat-corn-soybean meal-based broiler diet supplemented with a novel phytase, with or without a xylanase–β-glucanase, achieved a production benefit over a nutritionally adequate unsupplemented diet

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2023
: The effect of applying an energy and nutrient matrix to a wheat-corn-soybean meal-based diet supplemented with a novel consensus bacterial 6-phytase variant (PhyG) and xylanase–β-glucanase on growth performance, bone mineralization, carcass weights ...

Enhancing the Secretion Systems: Genetic Engineering of Super Bioagents for Effective Plant Disease Control

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
Genetic engineering (GE) overcomes BCA limits, enabling robust, scalable crop protection. “Super Bioagents” (SBs) use optimized SSs to enhance bioactive molecule delivery. Optimizing SSs enhance precise, sustainable effector deployment for stable disease suppression. SBs use microbiome‐informed design for scalable, next‐gen sustainable crop protection.

Identification of Putative Cellulose Synthase Gene xcsA2 Required for c‐di‐GMP‐Induced Biofilm Formation and Cell Aggregation in Synechococcus elongatus PCC 7942

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Synechococcus elongatus PCC 7942 is a widely used model cyanobacterium for diverse research fields and for bioproduction applications owing to its ease of cultivation, genetic modification, and ability to fix CO2. We found that a laboratory strain of S. elongatus PCC 7942 expressing the ydeH gene from E.
