Studies on the bactericidal activities of the 4-quinolones [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The 4-quinolones act primarily on the A subunit of DNA gyrase coded by the gyrA gene. The nalA mutation in gyrA was found to abolish mechanism B which is the first evidence that mechanism B may reside within gyrase.

Quorum Sensing: suatu Sistem Komunikasi Bakteri Fitopatogen, Peranannya pada Proses Infeksi, dan Peluangnya sebagai Basis Pengembangan Strategi Baru dalam Pengendalian Penyakit Tumbuhan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Previously, it is thought that bacterium is an autonomous unicellular organism with no capacity for collective behavior. Now the paradigm has changed since there are communication between intercell bacteria.

Interfacing B‐DNA and DNA Mimic Foldamers

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Helical aromatic oligoamide DNA mimic foldamers that reproduce the shape and charge distribution of duplex B‐DNA have been interfaced with DNA duplexes by means of a new linker that serves both as a DNA hairpin and as an aromatic oligoamide unit. In the resulting chimeric molecules, the linker does not perturb the DNA duplex structure and converts the ...

Spatiotemporal Distribution of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Alkyl Quinolones under Metabolic and Competitive Stress

open access: yesmSphere, 2020
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic human pathogen important to diseases such as cystic fibrosis. P. aeruginosa has multiple quorum-sensing (QS) systems, one of which utilizes the signaling molecule 2-heptyl-3-hydroxy-4-quinolone (Pseudomonas ...

Reaction of aryne with aza-Morita–Baylis–Hillman adducts: Synthesis of 4-quinolones and N-arylation products

open access: yesJournal of Saudi Chemical Society, 2017
The reaction of aryne with aza-Morita–Baylis–Hillman (aza-MBH) adducts has been studied. Aryne reacts with aza-MBH adducts through a cascade insertion–cyclization–ene reaction to produce 4-quinolones in 18–44% yields; meanwhile, aza-MBH adducts undergo N-

Sustainable Water Decontamination: Advanced High‐Valent Iron Active Species‐Driven Peroxymonosulfate Activation for Global Challenges

open access: yesCleanMat, EarlyView.
Iron‐based catalysts activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) to generate high‐valent iron‐oxo species for water decontamination and clean water production. The activation efficiency of PMS varies significantly depending on iron catalyst properties, while the generation of reactive high‐valent iron intermediates is governed by catalyst characteristics ...
