ATP-Citrate Lyase Controls a Glucose-to-Acetate Metabolic Switch
Mechanisms of metabolic flexibility enable cells to survive under stressful conditions and can thwart therapeutic responses. Acetyl-coenzyme A (CoA) plays central roles in energy production, lipid metabolism, and epigenomic modifications.

Inherited metabolic epilepsies–established diseases, new approaches
Abstract Inherited metabolic epilepsies (IMEs) represent the inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs) in which epilepsy is a prevailing component, often determining other neurodevelopmental outcomes associated with the disorder. The different metabolic pathways affected by individual IMEs are the basis of their rarity and heterogeneity.

Theaflavins attenuate hepatic lipid accumulation through activating AMPK in human HepG2 cellss⃞
Black tea is one of the world's most popular beverages, and its health-promoting effects have been intensively investigated. The antiobesity and hypolipidemic effects of black tea have attracted increasing interest, but the mechanisms underlying these ...

Ketogenic diet for infantile epileptic spasms
Abstract Approximately half of all cases of Infantile Epileptic Spasms Syndrome (IESS) do not respond to vigabatrin and hormonal therapies. There is no clear consensus as to the second‐line therapy for IESS. Ketogenic diet (KD) has emerged as an effective treatment for certain drug‐resistant epilepsies and in many cases of IESS.

Elevating acetyl-CoA levels reduces aspects of brain aging
Because old age is the greatest risk factor for dementia, a successful therapy will require an understanding of the physiological changes that occur in the brain with aging. Here, two structurally distinct Alzheimer's disease (AD) drug candidates, CMS121

Combination of the Leptadenia hastata leaf and the Syzygium aromaticum bud demonstrated hypolipidemic and antioxidant activities in a hyperlipidemic rat model. Combination of the two plants inhibited HMG‐CoA reductase activity, and the docking analysis revealed interacted well and formed binding complexes within the binding pocket of the enzyme ...
