Co-relation of coagulation profile with glycemic index in patients with type 2 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Family Medicine and Primary Care
Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) has emerged as a significant global concern that accounts for nearly 90% of type 2 DM cases worldwide and characterized by insulin resistance. Hyperglycemia in diabetes leads to increased fibrinogen levels and activates

Study of Basic Coagulation Parameters among HIV Patients in Correlation to CD4 Counts and Art Status [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2016
Introduction: HIV infection is known to cause coagulation abnormalities by various mechanism, especially during its late course. Aim: The objective of this study is to analyse platelet count, prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time

Deep‐Learning Model for Central Nervous System Infection Diagnosis and Prognosis Using Label‐Free 3D Immune‐Cell Morphology in the Cerebrospinal Fluid

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Early diagnosis and prognosis prediction of central nervous system infections are critical. This study introduces a deep‐learning model utilizing cerebrospinal fluid immune‐cell morphology captured via 3D holotomography. The model effectively predicts infection etiology and prognosis, achieving high accuracy.

Risk factors associated with venous thromboembolism in tuberculosis: A case control study

open access: yesThe Clinical Respiratory Journal, Volume 16, Issue 12, Page 835-841, December 2022., 2022
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) risks seem higher in tuberculosis (TB) patients, and therefore, there is a need for active prevention and treatment. Patients with fever, dyspnea, lower limb edema, and D‐dimer levels of more than 1855 μg/L should be actively screened for VTE and prophylactic anticoagulation given if necessary.

Diagnosis of antiphospholipid syndrome following snakebite

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Scientific Research, 2020
Isolated prolongation of activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) is an exceedingly rare finding in the event of a snakebite from a haemotoxic snake. Herein, we present the case of a 25-year-old asymptomatic female following snakebite.

von Willebrand factor activity and activated partial thromboplastin time as proxy biomarkers for coagulopathies in women with menorrhagia in Zambia: a case-control study

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2021
INTRODUCTION: von Willebrand Disease (vWD) is the most prevalent bleeding disorder. Women are more likely to manifest abnormal bleeding symptoms due to physiologic events and menorrhagia is the most common presenting symptom.

Case Report: Unusual Neurological Features of Leigh Syndrome due to m.8993T>G Pathogenic Variant in the MT‐ATP6 Gene

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The MT‐ATP6 gene m.8993T>G pathogenic variant has been associated with Leigh syndrome, especially in patients exhibiting a high degree of heteroplasmy. Although patients may present with a wide phenotypic spectrum, characteristic findings include bilateral, symmetric hyperintensities in the basal ganglia and brainstem on brain MRI ...

The changes in the fibrinogen concentration and coagulation pathways in winter and summer in cattle [PDF]

open access: yesĀsīb/shināsī-i Darmāngāhī-i Dāmpizishkī, 2013
Fibrinogen is an important coagulation factor and a positive acute phase protein and its levels increases in cases of inflammation infection and stress. The present research was done to determine whether the fibrinogen concentration, prothrombin time (PT)
