ABSTRACT This study investigates how phthalate exposure contributes to uterine fibroid (UF) development by studying the effects of the Mono‐(2‐ethyl‐5‐hydroxyhexyl) phthalate (MEHHP), a metabolite of Di(2‐ethylhexyl) phthalate, on myometrial stem cells (MMSCs).

15-Deoxy-Δ12,14-prostaglandin J2 (15d-PGJ2) and activin are implicated in the control of apoptosis, cell proliferation, and inflammation in cells. We examined both the mechanism by which 15d-PGJ2 regulates the transcription of activin-induced activin ...

Activin is known to play an important regulatory role in reproduction, including pregnancy. To further examine the role and signaling mechanism of activin in regulating placental function, the steady-state level of activin type I receptor (ActRI) mRNA in

Endogenous Wnt signalling in human embryonic stem cells generates an equilibrium of distinct lineage-specified progenitors. [PDF]
The pluripotent nature of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) makes them convenient for deriving therapeutically relevant cells. Here we show using Wnt reporter hESC lines that the cells are heterogeneous with respect to endogenous Wnt signalling activity.

Gene expression and protein localisation for activin-A, follistatin and activin receptors in goat ovaries [PDF]
We studied the protein and mRNA expression of activin-A, follistatin and activin receptors in goat ovaries to find evidence of their possible role in ovarian activity, particularly in the various stages of follicle development. Ovaries of cyclic goats were collected and then either fixed in paraformaldehyde for immunohistochemical localisation of ...

Adaptation of the invasive pest Drosophila suzukii to a specialized nutritional niche
Unlike most Drosophila larvae that feed on spoiled food, Drosophila suzukii larvae thrive on ripening fruits and consequently face a low‐protein, high‐carbohydrate nutritional challenge. Comparisons of growth among D. suzukii, D. biarmipes, and D. melanogaster larvae across diets with varying protein‐to‐carbohydrate ratios demonstrate that D.

Oral Immunotherapy Induces Shift in lncRNA Expression Modulating Allergen‐Specific Immune Responses
We used PBMC transcriptome from 50 hen's egg‐allergic patients to study the role of lncRNA in OIT. Positive correlation was found between 17 lncRNAs and the IL‐4/IL‐13 pathway in vivo, and the expression of the selected lncRNA aligned with CXCL8 upon PBMC egg‐restimulation.

Inhibins, activins and follistatins: a review
The study of the regulation of the reproductive process has largely focused on the interplay between endocrine organs, gonads and the brain. The discovery of inhibins, activins and follistatins and elucidation of their actions has emphasised their role in human reproduction.

ABSTRACT In the last decades, critical advancements in research technology and knowledge on disease mechanisms steered therapeutic approaches for chronic inflammatory diseases towards unprecedented target specificity. For allergic and chronic lung diseases, biologic drugs pioneered this goal, acquiring on the way—through the clinical use of monoclonal ...
