Cloning and Characterization of the Human Activity-dependent Neuroprotective Protein [PDF]
We have recently cloned the mouse activity-dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP). Here, we disclose the cloning of human ADNP (hADNP) from a fetal brain cDNA library. Comparative sequence analysis of these two ADNP orthologs indicated 90% identity at the mRNA level. Several single nucleotide polymorphic sites were noticed.

Diminished activity-dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP) contributes to complement gene elevation in Alzheimer's disease. [PDF]
Background Gene dysregulation is one of the key mechanisms that link pathological abnormalities to cognitive impairment in Alzheimer's disease (AD), the most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder. Our transcriptomic analysis of large-scale postmortem AD human prefrontal cortex (PFC) data revealed that complement ...

Subcellular localization and secretion of activity-dependent neuroprotective protein in astrocytes [PDF]
Activity-dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP, ∼123562.8 Da), is synthesized in astrocytes and expression of ADNP mRNA is regulated by the neuroprotective peptide vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP). The gene that encodes ADNP is conserved in human, rat and mouse, and contains a homeobox domain profile that includes a nuclear-export signal and a ...

Proximity labeling identifies a repertoire of site-specific R-loop modulators
R-loops are three-stranded nucleic acid structures that contribute to genome instability and accumulate in neurological diseases. Here the authors identify R-loop proximal factors, which are enriched for zinc finger and homeodomain proteins, including ...

Aronia juice improves working memory and suppresses δ-secretase activity in 5XFAD mice
Asparagine endopeptidase (AEP) cleaves amyloid precursor protein to facilitate amyloid β (Aβ) production in the brain. Aronia berry (Aronia melanocarpa) has various beneficial effects on health through inhibition of enzymes such as dipeptidyl peptidase ...
