Abstract Acyl carrier protein holoprotein (holo-ACP) synthetase, an enzyme which transfers 4'-phosphopantetheine from reduced coenzyme A to acyl carrier protein apoprotein (apo-ACP) to form holo-ACP and 3',5'-adenosine diphosphate, has been shown in Escherichia coli B. At 780-fold purification the enzyme is free of apo-ACP, holo-ACP, and ACP hydrolase.

Identifying Novel Inhibitors of RpFabG in Typhus-inducing Rickettsia prowazekii [PDF]
Epidemic typhus is a rickettsial disease that is contracted via ticks and lice found on the flying squirrel. The disease is caused by Rickettsia prowazekii, an intracellular, gram-negative coccobacillus.

Versatility of Acyl-Acyl Carrier Protein Synthetases
The acyl carrier protein (ACP) requires posttranslational modification with a 4'-phosphopantetheine arm for activity, and this thiol-terminated modification carries cargo between enzymes in ACP-dependent metabolic pathways. We show that acyl-ACP synthetases (AasSs) from different organisms are able to load even, odd, and unnatural fatty acids onto E ...

Phosphopantetheinyl transferases (PPTases) play important roles in activating apo-acyl carrier proteins (apo-ACPs) and apo-peptidyl carrier proteins (apo-PCPs) in both primary and secondary metabolism. PPTases catalyze the posttranslational modifications

High temperature during soybean seed development differentially alters lipid and protein metabolism
High temperatures during seed development can affect the seed yield and quality in many crops. Here, we analyzed how high temperature alters the main seed storage compounds (lipid and protein) in soybean. At five days after R5 stage (initial seed filling

The Acyl‐Carrier Protein of Citrate Lyase [PDF]
When [14C]acetyl citrate lyase was dissociated in sodium dodecylsulfate and the products were separated by gel electrophoresis, all of the radioactive label appeared in a small protein. This had a molecular weight of about 10000 and contained phosphopantetheine.
