Circadian rhythms of metabolite abundance in Drosophila are largely driven by time of feeding

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Circadian clocks exist in the brain and peripheral tissues such as the Drosophila fat body. Single‐nuclei transcriptomics reveal that the fat body clock generates time‐of‐day differences in metabolic gene transcription, which may also be indirectly controlled by brain clocks.

Plasma acylcarnitines are associated with pulmonary hypertension [PDF]

open access: yesPulmonary Circulation, 2017
Quantifying metabolic derangements in pulmonary hypertension (PH) by plasma metabolomics could identify biomarkers useful for diagnosis and treatment. The objective of this paper is to test the hypotheses that circulating metabolites are differentially expressed in PH patients compared with controls and among different hemodynamic subtypes of PH ...

Pemafibrate Improves Cholestatic Markers Regardless of the Presence of Primary Biliary Cholangitis

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
Pemafibrate improves liver function markers related to bile flow in primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), but whether this effect is disease‐specific remains unclear. In this study, pemafibrate reduced these markers in patients with and without PBC, suggesting broader effects on bile flow beyond PBC.

Association of BCAAs/BCKAs with pancreatic steatosis in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: A cross‐sectional study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims To examine the association between branched‐chain α‐keto acids (BCKAs) and pancreatic steatosis in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Methods This cross‐sectional study was conducted from January 2023 to March 2025. Upper abdominal computerized tomography was performed, pancreatic volume (PV), PV index (PVI), CT attenuation of pancreas

Established and Emerging Biomarkers to Characterize Persons at Risk for Obesity—Paving the Way for Targeted Clinical Intervention Trials—A Comprehensive Position Paper

open access: yesObesity Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite all efforts, obesity remains a major health concern worldwide, with continuously increasing rates, affecting approx. 14% of the total world population, being as high as 43% in some countries. As obesity is related to numerous comorbidities, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and some types of cancer, the consequences ...

Temporal and interanimal variation in bloodspot acylcarnitine and amino acid profiles in relation to conventional metabolites and hormones in Holstein dairy cows

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: The transition from late gestation to early lactation in dairy cows involves dynamic metabolic adaptations orchestrated by homeorhetic mechanisms, including hepatic fatty acid and AA metabolism.

Metabolic pattern across energy imbalance: An exploratory metabolomics study of female body weight extremes including anorexia nervosa and athletes

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract In anorexia nervosa (AN), prolonged metabolic adaptation to severe energy deficiency can impair treatment efficacy. Similarly, low energy availability poses a recognized risk to athletes, potentially compromising health and performance. This cross‐sectional study aimed to characterize the plasma metabolic pattern of females with varying ...

Integrated multi-omics reveals acylcarnitine accumulation as an early driver of doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity targeted by chlorogenic acid

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
IntroductionDoxorubicin (DOX)-induced cardiotoxicity (DIC) is a major clinical challenge, with early metabolic reprogramming acting as a potential pathogenic driver.

Acute exercise‐induced lipolysis and increase in levels of fatty acid esters of hydroxy fatty acids in adipose tissue are impaired in obese and aged mice

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Improving adipose tissue (AT) metabolism through exercise might increase production of lipokines from the fatty acid esters of hydroxy fatty acids (FAHFA) family. Although exercise training can increase insulin sensitivity and levels of specific FAHFA in AT and the circulation in humans, the effects of acute exercise on FAHFA levels remain ...

Mechanism‐Informed Pharmacotherapy Optimization and Deprescribing: A Redox–Mitochondrial Framework

open access: yesPharmacology Research &Perspectives, Volume 14, Issue 5, October 2026.
From cumulative drug burden to mitochondrial stress and functional decline. The graphical abstract summarizes the central concept of the review, illustrating how cumulative pharmacotherapy exposure may contribute to redox–mitochondrial stress and thereby reduce biological and functional resilience.
