Adamts1 in vascular homeostasis and remodelling [PDF]
Aneurysms involving the aortic root and the ascending aorta leading to dissections are the major diseases affecting the aorta and a common cause of premature deaths ranking as high as the XXth cause of death in developed countries. The major constituent of the vessel wall is the extracellular matrix (ECM).

Androgen-Independent Prostate Cancer - studies on angiogenesis and ADAMTS1 [PDF]
Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is the standard treatment for advanced prostate cancer since prostate tumors initially are dependent on androgens for growth. However, most tumors will eventually relapse and grow in a highly aggressive and androgen-independent (AI) manner.

ADAMTS1 is a secreted protein that belongs to the recently described ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloprotease with thrombospondin repeats) family of proteases. Evaluation of ADAMTS1 catalytic activity on a panel of extracellular matrix proteins showed a restrictive substrate specificity which includes some proteoglycans.

Hereditary Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura Associated With Recurrent Strokes and Prominent Nervous System Involvement in a Young Chinese Female [PDF]
Hereditary thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is a rare autosomal recessive inherited disease caused by an ADAMTS1 gene mutation, resulting in absence or severe deficiency of plasma ADAMTS13 activity.

Characterization of ADAMTS9 proteoglycanase activity: Comparison with ADAMTS1, ADAMTS4, and ADAMTS5. [PDF]
A Disintegrin-like And Metalloprotease domain with Thrombospondin type I motifs (ADAMTS) 9 has essential, non-redundant roles during embryogenesis. Adamts9 null murine embryos die prior to completing gastrulation. Unusually, for a protease, Adamts9 haploinsufficiency results in cardiovascular and ocular anomalies.

Adamts1 responds to systemic cues and gates adipogenesis [PDF]
Intuitively, excess caloric intake causes adipose tissue expansion. However, the signals and mechanisms by which this systemic trigger directs a local response in the adipose tissue are incompletely understood. Both hypertrophy of existing adipocytes and the generation of new adipocytes through differentiation of adipocyte precursor cells (APCs ...

Tumor growth inhibitory effect of ADAMTS1 is accompanied by the inhibition of tumor angiogenesis [PDF]
Angiogenesis plays an important role in tumor progression. Several reports have demonstrated that a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs1 (ADAMTS1) inhibited angiogenesis via multiple mechanisms.
