T cell costimulation blockade blunts pressure overload-induced heart failure
Abatacept is an FDA-approved drug used for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Here the authors show that abatacept reduces cardiomyocyte death in a mouse model of heart failure by inhibiting activation and heart infiltration of T cells and macrophages ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Convergence, plasticity, and tissue residence of regulatory T cell response via TCR repertoire prism
Suppressive function of regulatory T cells (Treg) is dependent on signaling of their antigen receptors triggered by cognate self, dietary, or microbial peptides presented on MHC II.

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated food allergy and the role of allergen‐specific B cells
Food allergy arises when allergen‐specific B cells preferentially produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against harmless foods. This article explains the mechanisms driving IgE‐mediated reactions, highlights the central role of these B cells, and discusses how natural tolerance (NT) and oral immunotherapy (OIT) can reshape allergic immune responses.

The 3 talks in this session all deal with aspects of immune response regulation and dysregulation that can be either protective or harmful in brain ischemia. As an introduction to this session, I will review several models of immune response regulation and relate these models to the upcoming talks.1 Under normal circumstances, antigen presenting cells (

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE INNATE AND ADAPTIVE IMMUNITY IN INFECTIONS (REVISION OF CLASSIC DOGMA)
. The mechanisms of the immune system responding to an infection depend on a complex interrelation between the elements of innate and adaptive immunity. The current understanding of how signaling from innate immunity receptors shapes the adaptive immune ...
