Characterization of Adipose-Derived Stem Cells: An Update
Current Stem Cell Research & Therapy, 2010Adipose tissue is an attractive source of multipotent adult stem cells due to its wide-spread availability, accessibility, and ease of harvest. Adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs), the adherent stromal cell population present within adipose tissue, are easily expanded in culture, able to differentiate along multiple cell-lineage pathways, and have been ...

Isolating and Characterizing Adipose-Derived Stem Cells
2018The research and application of regeneration medicine will require a reliable source of stem cells. Adipose tissue has proven to be an easily accessible and rich source of adult stem cells, termed adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs). ASCs have the most important advantage over stem cells from other available sources.

Adipose-derived Stem Cells for Myocardial Infarction
Journal of Cardiovascular Translational Research, 2010In recent years, stem cell treatment of myocardial infarction has elicited great enthusiasm upon scientists and physicians alike, thus making the finding of a suitable cell a compulsory subject for modern medicine. Due to its potential, accessibility and efficiency of harvesting, adipose tissue has become one of the most attractive sources of stem ...

Isolation of Murine Adipose-Derived Stem Cells
2010Murine models of obesity or reduced adiposity are a valuable resource for understanding the role of adipocyte dysfunction in metabolic disorders. Primary adipocytes grown in culture and derived from murine adipose tissue are essential for studying the mechanisms underlying adipocyte development and function.

Adipose-Derived Stem Cell Treatments and Formulations
Clinics in Sports Medicine, 2019This article analyzes the current literature on the use of adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) to evaluate the available evidence regarding their therapeutic potential in the treatment of cartilage pathology. Seventeen articles were included and analyzed, showing that there is overall a lack of high-quality evidence concerning the use of ASCs.

Photoaged Skin Therapy with Adipose-Derived Stem Cells
Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, 2020Background: The major intrinsic cause of facial skin degeneration is age, associated with extrinsic factors such as exposure to sun. Its major pathologic causes are degeneration of the elastin matrix, with loss of oxytalan and elaunin fibers in the subepidermal region, and actinic degeneration of elastin fibers that lose their ...

Adipogenic Differentiation of Adipose-Derived Stem Cells
2010The primary physiological function of adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) is to differentiate into adipose tissue. It is now possible to isolate, expand, and cryopreserve ASC from adipose depots of many animal species. These ASC can be induced to undergo adipogenic differentiation in vitro by exposure to a cocktail of chemical agents or inductive growth ...

Neurogenesis of adipose-derived stem cells in hydrogel
Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology [Medical Sciences], 2011Adipose tissue is a readily available source of adult stem cells with multipotent properties suitable for tissue engineering and regenerative medical applications. Peptide hydrogel is a novel biomaterial which provides three-dimensional microenvironments for a variety of cells for tissue grafting.

Isolation of Human Adipose-Derived Stem Cells
Human adipose-derived stromal/stem cells (hASCs) are a promising source of adult stem cells used in numerous applications in regenerative medicine. We present the protocols from our laboratory for isolating and expanding hASCs. The isolation of hASCs involves the enzymatic digestion of adipose tissue and subsequent culturing of the isolated cells.Elizabeth, Montano +2 more

Viral Transduction of Adipose-Derived Stem Cells
2010Increasing numbers of regenerative approaches now involve use of adult stem cells, like the bone marrow MSC or the adipose-derived ASC. With their ease of in vitro manipulation and successful tissue integration in vivo, the ASC makes an attractive candidate for gene delivery in vivo using viral-based gene therapy strategies.
