Whole Blood Aggregometry in Mice

Current Protocols
AbstractAggregometry plays a crucial role in both clinical diagnostics and research within hematology, serving as a fundamental tool for understanding platelet function and its implications in physiological and pathological processes. In research, aggregometry provides insights into platelet aggregation dynamics and aids in understanding the underlying

Methods in Dose Response Platelet Aggregometry

Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1985
SummaryA standardized method for performing dose response platelet aggregation has been developed, and has been used in about 1000 subjects in a large prospective study of ischaemic heart disease. A computer program has been used to fit a sigmoidal relationship between primary aggregation response rate and the log dose of aggregating reagent. Estimates

Light Transmission Aggregometry

2013
Laboratory testing of platelet function is essential for the diagnosis of several congenital and acquired platelet disorders. Moreover, it is increasingly being utilized to monitor the efficacy of antiplatelet therapy. Light transmission platelet aggregation is the most useful in vitro test of platelet function currently available, and it is still the ...

Sources of Variability in Dose Response Platelet Aggregometry

Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1985
SummaryAn experiment designed to assess the components of variability of a number of measures of platelet aggregability showed that the ADP ED50 (the estimated dose of adenosine diphosphate at which primary aggregation occurs at half its maximum velocity) had the least method error of any of the parameters measured, but that none had a very high ...

Detection of antibodies to transplantation antigens by platelet aggregometry

Journal of Surgical Research, 1971
Abstract Platelet aggregometry was used to study the effects of antibodies against tissue antigens located on the surfaces of platelets. Using 1.0 ml. of a pig platelet suspension in plasma (250,000/mm. 3 ), aggregation produced by dog serum was compared to that produced by 1 μg. of ADP and 0.1 ml. of 1% purified collagen suspension.

Dose-Response Aggregometry in Maternal/Neonatal Platelets

Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1988
SummaryThe aggregation of platelets collected from maternal/neonatal pairs (n = 240) at the time of childbirth, was studied in response to multiple doses of ADP, collagen, arachidonic acid and ristocetin. Similar responses were obtained from healthy nonpregnant adult controls for comparison.

Paraproteinaemias and platelet aggregation: Role of whole blood aggregometry

Thrombosis Research, 1989
Whole blood and optical platelet aggregation were measured in normals and in patients with paraproteinaemias; extent of aggregation was correlated with paraprotein concentrations in patients and in normals after addition of different doses of paraproteins; threshold aggregating concentrations of several agonists were also determined in whole blood and ...

Multiple electrode aggregometry in antiplatelet-related intracerebral haemorrhage

Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2013
As the population ages, antiplatelet agents are increasingly used in patients with cardiovascular diseases. Due to impaired platelet activity, these patients are at increased risk for bleeding complications and this is of particular importance in patients with intracerebral haemorrhage.
