The effect of feeding magnesium-enriched diets on the quality of the albumen of stored eggs [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Nutrition, 1977
1. Pullets were given from 1-d-old diets containing 1.6, 4.1, 8.1 and 12.0 g Mg/kg. Only small effects of these diets on live weight, food consumption, egg number, egg weights or egg-shell thickness were observed except at the highest level (12.0 g Mg/kg) which caused diarrhoea and an appreciable lowering of the live weight of growing pullets.

The Effect of Shell Egg Pasteurization on the Protein Quality of Albumen

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2001
The effect of a low-temperature, extended-time, in-shell pasteurization process on the protein quality of egg albumen was evaluated. Ten dozen fresh chicken eggs were pasteurized in a hot-air oven at 55 C for 180 min. The eggs were refrigerated and broken out for analysis on Days 0, 7, 14, 28, 42, and 56 following pasteurization.

EGG PRODUCTION AND QUALITY TRAITS OF SASSO-RIR, NORMAL FEATHERED LOCAL AND THEIR F1 CROSS CHICKENS MANAGED UNDER ON-STATION CONDITION IN SOUTHERN ETHIOPIA

open access: yesTropical and Subtropical Agroecosystems, 2021
Background. Poultry production is a tool for livelihood improvement and poverty alleviation in the developing countries. Indigenous chickens are numerous but lower in egg production performance than exotic chickens in Ethiopia. Objective.

Improving Albumen Quality

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1959
Abstract CONVINCING evidence has not been reported that the hen's diet could improve albumen quality. Little or no effect has been observed in albumen quality by varying the level of proteins, minerals, salts, grains, and fats in the ration (Thompson et al., 1932; Card and Sloan, 1935; Griminger and Scott, 1954; Mueller, 1956; Orr et al., 1958; and ...

Genetic Analyses of Egg Quality in Khorasan Razavi Native Fowl Using the Bayesian Method [PDF]

open access: yesPoultry Science Journal, 2017
This study was conducted to estimate the genetic parameters influencing egg quality in Khorasan Razavi native fowl. (Co)Variance components were estimated by the Bayesian statistical method via Gibbs sampling in GIBBS3F90 software. 1000 eggs (28-29 weeks

Dietary Fructooligosaccharides Effectively Facilitate the Production of High-Quality Eggs via Improving the Physiological Status of Laying Hens

open access: yesFoods, 2022
The focus of this study was to investigate the influence of prebiotics, such as fructooligosaccharides (FOS), on laying performance, egg quality, apparent fecal amino acid digestibility, jejunal morphology, hematological indices, immunological response ...

Genetic Parameters of Egg Quality Traits and Albumen Density in White Leghorn Chickens. [PDF]

open access: yesAnimals (Basel)
The conventional method for detecting protein content in egg albumen is the Kjeldahl method, but this method cannot be applied in practical production due to cost limitations. Therefore, we developed albumen density (AD), which had certain potential application value in low-cost and efficient evaluation of albumen protein content.

Changes in Albumen Quality with Time

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1962
Abstract NUMEROUS reports indicate that albumen quality declines more or less steadily throughout the first laying year (Sauter et al., 1954; Strain and Johnson, 1957; Froning and Funk, 1958; May and Stadelman, 1960; Mueller et al., 1960). The consensus of opinion is that this change is not related to seasonal changes in temperature.

The Effects of Egg Shape Index on Egg Quality Traits of Guinea Fowl (Numida meleagris)

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Agriculture: Food Science and Technology, 2016
The aim of this study was to investigated the effects of the egg shape index on egg quality characteristics in Guinea fowl. For this, the eggs were classified in terms of egg shape index, as ≤ 75, < 76 -77 > and ≥ 78. A total of 100 Guinea fowl eggs were
