Inhibition of cyclin‐dependent kinases 12/13 using CT7439 as a treatment for colorectal cancer with CDK12 upregulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The proposed mechanism of action for the CDK12/13 inhibitor and cyclin K degrader, CT7439. CDK12/13 inhibition interrupts transcription elongation, leading to increased DNA damage that results in cell death. This agent is a potentially novel treatment option for patients with colorectal cancer. Created in BioRender. Cyclin‐dependent kinase (CDK) 12 and

Albumin: a mediator of the association between serum calcium and triglyceride-glucose index among Chinese individuals with osteoporotic fractures

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
BackgroundOsteoporotic fractures (OPFs) are a major global health concern, affecting nearly 200 million individuals worldwide. Notably, patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) face a heightened fracture risk, even when bone mineral density (BMD) is

Circulating microRNA signatures of cachexia and cancer in Canis familiaris as a comparative oncology model for human disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNAs as biomarkers of cachexia and sex‐specific cancer in senior dogs. In 25 client‐owned dogs, four circulating miRNAs (miR‐15a, miR‐15b, miR‐16, miR‐140) were downregulated in cachexia, with miR‐16 the strongest individual biomarker (AUC = 0.899).

Predictive value of serum uric acid-to-albumin ratio for diabetic kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: a case-control study

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to investigate the predictive effects of the serum uric acid-to-albumin ratio (sUAR) on the onset of diabetic kidney disease (DKD) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).MethodsA case-control study was ...

Epigenetic silencing of the liver‐specific lncRNA LUNAR promotes liver cancer progression via NOTCH activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LUNAR is a liver‐specific long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) that is highly expressed in normal liver but becomes epigenetically silenced in hepatocellular carcinoma through promoter hypermethylation. Loss of LUNAR is associated with NOTCH activation, epithelial–mesenchymal transition, and metastasis, whereas restoring LUNAR restrains metastatic progression ...

CEACAM1 participation in breast cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In invasive breast cancer (BC), CEACAM1 shifts from an apical to a uniform membranous/cytoplasmic pattern, or is lost, as tumors dedifferentiate, inversely tracking the Ki‐67 proliferative index. In MCF‐7 cells, only CEACAM1‐4L suppresses proliferation, repressing cell cycle and growth factor genes.

Generation of H11-albumin-rtTA transgenic mice: a tool for inducible gene expression in the liver [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We have developed a powerful new transgenic mouse technology that will greatly facilitate mechanistic studies. Very briefly, we generated genomic “safe harbor” Hipp11 (H11) locus-specific knock-in transgenic mice via homologous recombination, and we use ...
