Small molecule deoxynyboquinone triggers alkylation and ubiquitination of Keap1 at Cys489 on Kelch domain for Nrf2 activation and inflammatory therapy

open access: yesJournal of Pharmaceutical Analysis
Activation of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) by Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (Keap1) alkylation plays a central role in anti-inflammatory therapy.

Modeling of Benzene with Ethylene Alkylation

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
The paper considers the benzene alkylation with ethylene model development with the use of zeolite catalyst. A list of reactions occurring in the alkylation reactor was made and the thermodynamic possibility of determination of these reactions by the ...

Experimental validation of computational fluid dynamic codes (CFD) for liquid-solid risers in clean alkylation processes [PDF]

open access: yesHemijska Industrija, 2002
This manuscript, based on the presentation given by one of the authors (M.P. Dudukovic) at the Technological and Engineering Forum in Pančevo, May 21 2002, summarizes the use of the computer automated radioactive particle tracking (CARPT) and gamma ...

Novel sulfur and selenium containing bis-α-amino acids from 4-hydroxyproline [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The synthesis of new substituted prolines carrying at C-4 a second α-amino acid residue is reported. The amino acid, l-cysteine or l-selenocysteine, is linked to the proline ring through the sulfur or the selenium atom, respectively.

4‐nitrobenzoate inhibits 4‐hydroxybenzoate polyprenyltransferase in malaria parasites and enhances atovaquone efficacy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Atovaquone is an antimalarial requiring potentiation for sufficient efficacy. We pursued strategies to enhance its activity, showing that 4‐nitrobenzoate inhibits 4‐hydroxybenzoate polyprenyltransferase, decreasing ubiquinone biosynthesis. Since atovaquone competes with ubiquinol in mitochondria, 4‐nitrobenzoate facilitates its action, potentiating ...

Discovery of New Apoptosis-Inducing Agents for Breast Cancer Based on Ethyl 2-Amino-4,5,6,7-Tetra Hydrobenzo[b]Thiophene-3-Carboxylate: Synthesis, In Vitro, and In Vivo Activity Evaluation

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
A multicomponent synthesis was empolyed for the synthesis of ethyl 2-amino-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzo[b]thiophene-3-carboxylate 1. An interesting cyclization was obtained when the amino-ester 1 reacted with ethyl isothiocyanate to give the benzo[4,5]thieno ...

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Enable biomass-derived alcohols mediated alkylation and transfer hydrogenation

open access: yesNature Communications
A single-atom catalyst with generally regarded inert Zn–N4 motifs derived from ZIF-8 is unexpectedly efficient for the activation of alcohols, enabling alcohol-mediated alkylation and transfer hydrogenation. C-alkylation of nitriles, ketones, alcohols, N-

Efficient and selective N-alkylation of amines with alcohols catalysed by manganese pincer complexes

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Hydrogen borrowing is an attractive method for C-N bond formation - avoiding multiple alkylation products and reducing waste - but often is carried out with noble metals.

Smart, Bio‐Inspired Polymers and Bio‐Based Molecules Modified by Zwitterionic Motifs to Design Next‐Generation Materials for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...
