The minor bile acids of the toad, Bufo vulgaris formosus.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1983
Bile from the toad, Bufo vulgaris formosus, was found to contain a number of minor bile acids along with two major bile acids, 3 alpha, 7 alpha, 12 alpha-trihydroxy-5 beta-cholest-22-ene-24-carboxylic acid and 3 alpha, 7 alpha, 12 alpha-trihydroxy-5 beta-

Intake and metabolism of omega-3 and omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids: nutritional implications for cardiometabolic diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Prospective observational studies support the use of long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in the primary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease; however, randomised controlled trials, have often reported neutral findings ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Bile salts of the toad, Bufo marinus: characterization of a new unsaturated higher bile acid, 3 alpha,7 alpha,12 alpha,26-tetrahydroxy-5 beta-cholest-23-en-27-oic acid.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1994
The bile salts present in gallbladder bile of the toad, Bufo marinus, were found to consist of a mixture of bile alcohol sulfates and unconjugated bile acids.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Bile acids and bile alcohols of bullfrog.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1980
Gallbladder bile of the bullfrog, Rana cetesbeiana was found to contain a number of minor bile acids and bile alcohols in unconjugated forms. The following bile acids and bile alcohols were identified by combined gas-liquid chromatography-mass ...

Content of fatty acids, vitamin E and carotenoids in milk and herbage as affected by sward composition and period of grazing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The quality of organic milk is affected by feed composition, and especially the high use of legumes has been identified as the reason for high levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids, carotenoids and tocopherols in organic milk. Four different pastures

Effects of dietary long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids on plasma amino acids and indices of protein metabolism in infants: Results from a randomized clinical trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Background/Aim: Previous studies in vitro and in animals in vivo found that alpha-linolenic acid (C18:3 omega 3) may enhance oxidative damage of essential amino acids.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...
