Biochemical properties of penicillin amidohydrolase from Micrococcus luteus [PDF]
Some biochemical properties of whole-cell penicillin amidohydrolase from Micrococcus luteus have been studied. This whole-cell enzyme showed its maximal activity at 36 degrees C at pH 7.5. It was found that the activation energy of this enzyme was 8.03 kcal (ca. 33.6 kJ) per mol, and this amidohydrolase showed first-order decay at 36 degrees C.

Crystal structure of carbon–nitrogen hydrolase from Helicobacter pylori G27
H. pylori carbon–nitrogen hydrolase was produced and crystallized, and its 2.1 Å resolution structure is reported.Carbon–nitrogen hydrolases (CNHs) are members of the diverse nitrilase superfamily of enzymes that facilitate cellular adaptation to environmental stress by metabolizing nitrogen, detoxifying xenobiotics and catabolizing environmentally ...

Transposon mutagenesis in a hyper-invasive clinical isolate of Campylobacter jejuni reveals a number of genes with potential roles in invasion [PDF]
Transposon mutagenesis has been applied to a hyper-invasive clinical isolate of Campylobacter jejuni, 01/51. A random transposon mutant library was screened in an in vitro assay of invasion and 26 mutants with a significant reduction in invasion were ...

Revisiting D‐Acylases for D‐Amino Acid Production
N‐Acyl‐D‐amino acid deacylases (EC 3.5.1.81, also known as D‐acylases) have been studied for decades for their utility in the kinetic resolution of N‐acetyl‐D,L‐amino acids (NAAs) due to a marked stereospecificity. In conjunction with an N‐succinyl‐amino

Subcellular localization and tissue specific expression of amidase 1 from Arabidopsis thaliana [PDF]
Amidase 1 (AMI1) from Arabidopsis thaliana converts indole-3-acetamide (IAM), into indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). AMI1 is part of a small isogene family comprising seven members in A.

Effects of pH on the inhibition of fatty acid amidohydrolase by ibuprofen [PDF]
The pharmacological properties of fatty acid amidohydrolase (FAAH) at different assay pH values were investigated using [3H]‐anandamide ([3H]‐AEA) as substrate in rat brain homogenates and in COS‐7 cells transfected with wild type and mutant FAAH. Rat brain hydrolysis of [3H]‐AEA showed pH dependency with an optimum around pH 8‐9.
