Evidence for two pharmacologically distinct populations of glutamate-activated first order interneurons in a vertebrate spinal cord.

open access: yes, 1987
p. 357-360.The Atlantic stingray, Dasyatis sabina, is being employed as a simple vertebrate model for studying spinal cord circuitry. Current investigations are aimed at determining the role of excitatory amino acids in the production of spinal reflexes.

The Interactions Between Acetylcholine and T‐Cells and Their Role in the Immune System: A Scoping Review

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
Activated T‐cells instigate signalling events leading to the activation of transcription factors, which in turn, act on the nucleus to produce cytokines. We postulate that c‐fos is one of these transcription factors which upregulates the choline acetyltransferase gene responsible for synthesising acetylcholine (ACh).

Estimation of N-acetyltransferase 2 haplotypes [PDF]

open access: yes
N-Acetyltransferase 2 (NAT2) genotyping may result in a considerable percentage in several ambiguous allele combinations. PHASE 2.1 is a statistical program which is designed to estimate the probability of different allele combinations.

Genomic variation drives plant flavor diversification

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
This review explains how genomic variation shapes plant flavor by altering the biosynthetic and regulatory pathways of key attributes like sweetness, acidity, bitterness, piquancy, astringency, and aroma. It also discusses how multi‐omics, AI‐assisted breeding, and gene editing can translate this knowledge into plants with improved flavor, nutrition ...

C‐type cyclin CycC1;1 delays leaf senescence by interacting with and inhibiting MYC2 in Arabidopsis

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
The C‐type cyclin CycC1;1 interacts with MYC2 and MED25 to block their association and RNA polymerase II recruitment, thereby repressing senescence‐associated gene expression and delaying leaf senescence in Arabidopsis. Unlike jasmonic acid‐inducible JAZ repressors, CycC1;1 operates independently of jasmonic acid signaling, representing an ...

TaHDA1‐mediated histone and non‐histone deacetylation orchestrates drought tolerance in wheat

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
The histone deacetylase TaHDA1 is a key regulator linking histone and non‐histone deacetylation with drought adaptation and a potential target for improving drought resilience and grain nutritional quality in wheat. ABSTRACT Drought stress severely constrains wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) growth and productivity.

Periodontitis and Diabetes: Mechanistic Evidence of a Circular Relationship

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
This narrative review aimed to explore the underlying mechanisms that connect periodontitis to diabetes (and vice versa) and that influence disease susceptibility, progression and response to treatment. ABSTRACT The circular relationship between periodontitis and diabetes mellitus is one of the most established oral‐systemic links.

A Lambda Red Recombinase‐Assisted CRISPR/Cas9 System for Efficient and Precise Genome Editing in Agrobacterium tumefaciens

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Agrobacterium tumefaciens is a powerful delivery tool for plant genetic transformation and a pivotal platform for agricultural biotechnology. However, laboratory strains of Agrobacterium have remained genetically unoptimized for decades, with genome engineering hindered by inefficient, endogenous homologous recombination systems.
