Dye‐sensitized Photooxidation as a Tool for the Elucidation of Critical Amino Acid Residues in Phosphoglucose Isomerase

European Journal of Biochemistry, 1967
Rabbit muscle phosphoglucose isomerase was subjected to methylene blue and rose bengal sensitized photooxidation. This treatment caused the enzyme to lose activity quite rapidly with half‐lives of 2 to 10 minutes under the following conditions: pH 7.1; ionie strength, 0.11; temperature, 10°; enzyme concentration, 2 mg per ml.

Triosephosphate isomerase deficiency: Repetitive occurrence of point mutation in amino acid 104 in multiple apparently unrelated families

American Journal of Hematology, 1995
AbstractThe molecular basis of triosephosphate isomerase (TPI) deficiency was studied in 3 patients from three separate families. In all 3 patients, genomic DNA directly sequenced after amplification by the polymerase chain reaction exhibited the point mutation TPI315C amino acid 104 Glu→Asp.

The nucleotide and deduced amino acid sequences of a peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase from Arabidopsis thaliana

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Gene Structure and Expression, 1994
The nucleotide sequence of a cDNA clone from Arabidopsis thaliana ecotype Columbia was determined, and the corresponding amino acid sequence deduced. The predicted sequence is highly homologous to those of members of the cyclophilin A-family of peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerases.

Site-directed mutagenesis of putative active-site amino acid residues of 3,2-trans-enoyl-CoA isomerase, conserved within the low-homology isomerase/hydratase enzyme family

Biochemistry, 1993
During beta-oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids, mitochondrial 3,2-trans-enoyl-CoA isomerase (mECI) converts 3-cis- or 3-trans-enoyl-CoA intermediates into their 2-trans isomers. The cDNA-derived amino acid sequence of mECI shows weak but significant homologies to the peroxisomal trifunctional enzyme (pTFE), the alpha-subunit of the fatty acid ...

Purification and partial amino acid sequence of the cyanogen bromide fragments of muconolactone isomerase from Pseudomonas putida

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure, 1977
Muconolactone isomerase is shown to be resistant to proteolytic cleavage by trypsin. Cyanogen bromide cleavage at the methionine residues of the polypeptide is at least 95% complete. Six cyanogen bromide fragments are separated on DEAE-cellulose. One fragment is shown by amino acid analysis and carboxyl-terminal analysis to be an incomplete cleavage ...

[Effect of vitamins and various amino acids on glucose isomerase biosynthesis by Streptomyces albogriseolus culture].

Mikrobiologiia, 1985
The effect of vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, H, PP and folic acid) and amino acids (glutamic and aspartic acids) on glucose isomerase biosynthesis was studied in Streptomyces albogriseolus. These compounds were added either alone or in combinations to different growth media (synthetic and complex). The results were processed using mathematical methods,

Characterization of the phosphoglucose isomerase gene from crickets: an analysis of phylogeny. amino acid conservation and nucleotide composition

Insect Molecular Biology, 1997
Although electrophoretic variation in phosphoglucose isomerase (PGI) is often detected in allozyme studies, the Pgi gene has rarely been characterized. Here, I present the cDNA sequence of the Pgi gene from two species of field cricket, Gryllus pennsylvanicus (U65475) and G.

[Amino acid composition and quaternary structure of glucosoisomerase (d-xylose-ketol-isomerase) from Actinomyces olivocinereus 154].

Prikladnaia biokhimiia i mikrobiologiia, 1981
The amino acid composition of glucosoisomerase from Actinomyces olivocinereus 154 was investigated. The content of dicarboxylic acids--aspartic and glutamic--was found to be greater than that of basic acids--lysine, arginine and histidine. Hydrophobic acids were also detected to occur on appreciable quantities. No cysteine was seen in the enzyme.
