On the dynamics of nitrite, nitrate and other biomarkers of nitric oxide production in inflammatory bowel disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Nitrite and nitrate are frequently used surrogate markers of nitric oxide (NO) production. Using rat models of acute and chronic DSS-induced colitis we examined the applicability of these and other NO-related metabolites, in tissues and blood, for the ...

Sulfated Cyclocarya Paliurus Polysaccharide Sorchestrates the Gut Microbiome to Mobilize a Host‐Derived 12‐HEPE Against Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A sulfated polysaccharide (SCP) from Cyclocarya paliurus alleviates ulcerative colitis by reshaping the gut microbiome. This remodeled microbiota orchestrates the upregulation of the host‐derived lipid 12‐HEPE, which directly inhibits the TLR4/NF‐κB pathway to suppress inflammation.

Carboxylation of hydroxyarens with metal alkyl carbonates

open access: yesGreen Processing and Synthesis, 2015
The objective of this work was to investigate the possibility of using alkali metal salts of ethylcarbonic acid as a carboxylating reagent in phenol (naphthols) carboxylation and developing a new and simple method for the synthesis of hydroxybenzoic and ...

Long‐Term Outcomes After Stoma Creation in Crohn's Disease: A Retrospective Cohort Study of 422 Patients

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Stoma creation is often required in Crohn's disease (CD), most commonly because of progressive anorectal disease. As stoma closure strongly influences long‐term quality of life and surgical decision‐making, this study evaluated the indications and long‐term outcomes of stoma creation in patients with CD.

Smart Nanodelivery Systems for Immunometabolic Modulation in Osteoarthritis

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
Smart nanodelivery systems deliver therapeutic payloads across the cartilage matrix to ensure their sustained accumulation within chondrocytes at sites of injury. By targeting specific molecular targets and signaling pathways, these platforms modulate the pathological synovium‐cartilage axis to restore immunometabolic homeostasis and drive tissue ...

Beyond Gut Modulation: A Critical Review of the Therapeutic Potential, Safety, and Clinical Prospects of Natural Polysaccharides for IBD

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
In this review, we critically summarized the application of natural polysaccharides (NPs) for the treatment of IBD. This approach combines, in a unique way (right), the basic structure–activity relationships of NPs from different origins (left) with their multipronged mode of action, which involves modulation of the gut microbiota and other ...

Drug-induced eosinophilic pneumonia in a patient with Crohn's disease: diagnosis and treatment using fraction of exhaled nitric oxide

open access: yesIntestinal Research, 2017
Oral 5-aminosalicylic acid agents (mesalazine and sulfasalazine) and azathioprine are the mainstays of treatment for inflammatory bowel disease. Reports of pulmonary toxicity induced by oral 5-aminosalicylic acid agents or azathioprine in patients with ...
