Limited added value of fungal ITS amplicon sequencing in the study of bovine abortion [PDF]
Bovine mycotic abortion is sporadic and caused by different ubiquitous and opportunistic fungi. Recently, a broad spectrum of bacterial opportunists involved in bovine abortion was revealed by 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing.

MFPD: A Multiple Fungal Pathogen Detection Pipeline Across Diverse Habitats
The MFPD pipeline integrates a comprehensive ITS reference database of fungal pathogens, optimized parameters, and algorithms tailored for both full‐length and subregion sequences that balance accuracy and computational efficiency; it enables high‐throughput, species‐level identification from amplicon sequencing data, supporting large‐scale ...

Cigarette smoke accelerates the aging of immune cells in the lung. By combining human single‐cell sequencing, cell culture, and mouse models, the authors show that the protein GEM drives mitochondrial damage and senescence in alveolar macrophages by suppressing SIRT3.

Amplicon sequencing reveals bacterial diversity of indoor air microbiome in hospital buildings [PDF]
Airborne transmission of pathogens in hospitals poses a significant risk for healthcare-associated infections. Traditionally, assessing microorganisms in hospital air relies on culture methods, limiting the identification process.

The BnTFL1‐BnJAM3‐BnSWEETs Module Orchestrates Seed Storage Reserve Accumulation in Brassica napus
BnaC03.TFL1 and BnaA01.JAM3 form a complex that facilitates the transport of soluble sugars from the seed coat to the embryo by directly activating the expression of BnSWEETs. Furthermore, BnaC03.TFL1 and BnaA01.JAM3 work cooperatively to promote soluble sugar and oil production while suppressing protein deposition.

Amuc_1473 Links Gut Microbes to Skeletal Homeostasis and Counteracts Multifactorial Osteoporosis
Amuc_1473, a previously uncharacterized protein enriched in Akkermansia muciniphila‐derived extracellular vesicles, is identified as a gut–bone messenger that promotes osteogenesis and inhibits osteoclastogenesis by engaging transcriptional and translational regulators in bone cells.

Abstract Most microbiome studies to date rely on sequencing short amplicons of the 16S rRNA gene on Illumina’s platforms. Because of the short read length, sequences often can be identified reliably only to the family or genus levels. Long read sequencing with whole-length 16S rRNA sequencing can improve taxonomic resolution, but often ...

Multi‐omics analyses uncover breed‐specific cis‐regulatory landscapes and higher‐order chromatin architectural differences that underlie early postnatal muscle fiber divergence in pigs. A super‐enhancer upstream of PPP3CB recruits MEF2C to activate PPP3CB transcription, while the PPP3CB–MEF2C positive feedback loop promotes oxidative muscle fiber ...
