Effects of Low-Load Blood Flow Restriction Training on Muscle Anabolism Biomarkers and Thrombotic Biomarkers Compared with Traditional Training in Healthy Adults Older Than 60 Years: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

open access: yes
The aim of this meta-analysis was to determine the effects of low-load blood flow restriction training (LL-BFRT) on muscle anabolism and thrombotic biomarkers compared with the effects of traditional LL training and to analyse the changes in these ...

WTAP‐Mediated m6A Modification Targets the LRP1‐Lipid Metabolism Axis to Regulate Joint Cartilage Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
WTAP drives cartilage regeneration by activating an LRP1‐dependent lipid metabolic program in macrophages, enhancing IL‐10 and TGF‐β secretion to promote chondrogenic differentiation. Leveraging this mechanism, virtual screening identifies LRP1‐targeting compounds that effectively stimulate cartilage repair, highlighting a druggable epigenetic ...

CDH1 Orchestrates Anabolic Events to Promote Cell Cycle Initiation

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Cell proliferation requires anabolic supports. How the cell cycle integrates anabolism remains poorly understood. Herein, it is identified that G1‐phase regulator cell division cycle 20‐like protein 1 (CDH1) coordinates anabolic events to ensure cell ...

Comparable Rates of Integrated Myofibrillar Protein Synthesis Between Endurance-Trained Master Athletes and Untrained Older Individuals

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2019
BackgroundAn impaired muscle anabolic response to exercise and protein nutrition is thought to underpin age-related muscle loss, which may be exacerbated by aspects of biological aging that may not be present in older individuals who have undertaken long-

Drug‐Induced Cuproptosis Defines the Therapeutic Window of Celecoxib in Intervertebral Disc Degeneration via the HSP90‐RBX1 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals the dual role of celecoxib in intervertebral disc degeneration. While low concentrations are protective, high concentrations induce toxicity by upregulating HSP90, which synergizes with USP15 to deubiquitinate and stabilize RBX1. This leads to degradation of COMMD1/ATP7B, copper dyshomeostasis, and ultimately, cuproptosis.

The Effect of Cachexia on the Feeding Regulation of Skeletal Muscle Protein Synthesis in Tumour‐Bearing Mice

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle
Background Cancer promotes muscle wasting through an imbalance in the tightly regulated protein synthesis and degradation processes. An array of intracellular signalling pathways, including mTORC1 and AMPK, regulate protein synthesis, and these pathways ...

The coupling between catabolism and anabolism of Methanobacterium thermoautotrophicum in H2- and iron-limited continuous cultures

open access: yes
The aim of the present work was to investigate whether uncoupling of catabolism from anabolism, which was often obsd. in heterotrophic microorganisms under energy-sufficient growth conditions, also occurs in the autotrophic bacterium M ...

Orchestrated Engineered Polyphenol‐Peptide Condensates Coupled With β‐GP Reverses Diabetic Osteoporosis by Remodeling Mitophagy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multifunctional β‐GP@EGCG‐E7 nanoplatform is engineered by polyphenol–peptide condensation and phosphate loading. Bone‐targeted delivery, antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory activity, and mitophagy restoration are integrated in one system, enabling protection of osteoblasts and endothelial cells and promoting bone regeneration under diabetic ...

Mycobacterium tuberculosis WhiB3 maintains redox homeostasis by regulating virulence lipid anabolism to modulate macrophage response

open access: yes, 2009
The metabolic events associated with maintaining redox homeostasis in Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) during infection are poorly understood. Here, we discovered a novel redox switching mechanism by which Mtb WhiB3 under defined oxidizing and reducing ...

Ferritinophagy Rewires Carnitine‐Dependent Lipid Metabolism to Inhibit PRRSV and IAV Replication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NCOA4‐mediated ferritinophagy reprograms carnitine metabolism by disrupting Fe‐S cluster biogenesis, thereby establishing an iron‐lipid axis that suppresses various viruses, including PRRSV and IAV. However, viruses counteract this mechanism by degrading NCOA4.
