Respiratory Organ‐on‐a‐Chip for Disease Modeling: From Architecture to Functional Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 23, 19 June 2026.
Respiratory organ‐on‐a‐chip (ROC) models capture key mechanical and cellular cues of the human respiratory system, enabling quantitative dissection of disease mechanisms. This review links ROC architectures to disease modeling, functional integration, and commercialization, and proposes a decision framework that aligns model complexity with mechanistic

Electrical Stimulation Directs Formation of Perfused Vasculature in Engineered Tissues

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 33, 15 June 2026.
Electrical stimulation (ESTIM) enhances vasculature formation in engineered human tissues. In 3D endothelial‐fibroblast constructs, conditioning with ESTIM promotes the formation of dense and highly branched networks that rapidly anastomose with mouse vasculature when implanted in vivo. Vessels formed under ESTIM are importantly functionally perfusable.

Mechanisms of Pericyte‐Mediated Cancer Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 33, 15 June 2026.
Pericytes play multifarious roles in promoting cancer metastasis by facilitating metastatic cancer cell dissemination, circulating tumor cell survival, tissue extravasation, premetastatic niche formation, and metastatic tumor growth. These cells have intertwined interactions with vascular endothelial cells to modulate cancer cell behavior and ...

Research progress on the roles of angiopoietin-like protein 8 in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases

open access: yes
Angiopoietin-like protein 8(ANGPTL8) secreted by liver and adipose tissue, is a glycoprotein exerting paramount effects on facilitation of vascular remodeling and regulation of inflammatory response; ANGPTL8 is involved in the initiation and progression ...

Decoding Undesirable Inflammatory Responses of Nucleic Acid‐Delivering Lipid Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 33, 15 June 2026.
Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) enable efficient nucleic acid delivery, but their immunogenicity is a double‐edged sword. This review explores LNP‐driven innate and adaptive immunity, covering lipid components, endosomal escape, and nucleic acid sensing.

The impacts of Angiopoetin like protein family 4 on dyslipidemia, atherosclerosis and macrophage foam cell formation

open access: yes, 2009
熊本大学博士(医学)In 2000,several groups repoted Angiopoetin like protein family 4 (Angptl 4) as one of "angiopoietin-like proteins" (Angptls). Angptls possess an N-terminal coiled-coil domain and a C-terminal, both characteristic of angiopoietins.

Human brain pericytes protect the blood–brain barrier from triple‐negative breast cancer cells while promoting tumor aggressiveness

open access: yesJournal of Cell Communication and Signaling, Volume 20, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract The majority of breast cancer‐related deaths result from metastatic progression, especially brain metastasis, associated with the poorest prognosis. Patients with triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) are particularly prone to developing brain metastases.
