Angiotensin III Stimulates Aldosterone Secretion from Adrenal Gland Partially via Angiotensin II Type 2 Receptor But Not Angiotensin II Type 1 Receptor [PDF]

open access: hybridEndocrinology, 2011
AbstractAngiotensin II (Ang II) and Ang III stimulate aldosterone secretion by adrenal glomerulosa, but the angiotensin receptor subtypes involved and the effects of Ang IV and Ang (1–7) are not clear. In vitro, different angiotensins were added to rat adrenal glomerulosa, and aldosterone concentration in the medium was measured.

Does activation of the protective Renin-Angiotensin System have therapeutic potential in COVID-19?

open access: yesMolecular Medicine, 2020
Infection of lung cells by the corona virus results in a loss of the balance between, on the one hand, angiotensin II-mediated stimulation of the angiotensin II type 1 receptor and, on the other hand, stimulation of the angiotensin II type 2 receptor and/

Angiotensin II Type 2 Receptor–Mediated Vasodilation in Human Coronary Microarteries [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 2004
Background— Angiotensin (Ang) II type 2 (AT 2 ) receptor stimulation results in coronary vasodilation in the rat heart. In contrast, AT 2 receptor–mediated vasodilation could not be observed in large human coronary arteries.

Hypertension in COVID-19, A Risk Factor for Infection or A Late Consequence? [PDF]

open access: yesCell Journal, 2022
There are a lot of data about the correlation of SARS-CoV-2 infection and hypertension (HTN), but most of themare in the increased risk of morbidity and mortality in patients with HTN. SARS-CoV-2 can interfere with host cellsthrough the renin-angiotensin

The angiotensin II type 2 receptor in renal disease [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System, 2009
Suppression of angiotensin II formation by angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors or blockade of the angiotensin II receptor by angiotensin receptor blockers is a powerful therapeutic strategy to slow the progression of renal disease. However, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers provide only imperfect ...

The effect of aerobic exercise on the function of the local renin-angiotensin system and gluconeogenesis pathway in the liver tissue of type 2 diabetic rats [PDF]

open access: yesمجله علوم پزشکی فیض (پیوسته), 2023
Background and Aim: One of the important and effective physiological systems in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes is the local renin-angiotensin system. The aim of the current study was to determine the effect of aerobic exercise on the function of the

The angiotensin II type 2 receptor in the brain [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System, 2009
Recent clinical studies indicate that blockade of the renin-angiotensin system is important to prevent stroke, and accumulating results of basic research also indicate the possible involvement of the central renin-angiotensin system in ischaemic brain damage and cognition.

Independent beta-arrestin 2 and G protein-mediated pathways for angiotensin II activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1 and 2. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Stimulation of a mutant angiotensin type 1A receptor (DRY/AAY) with angiotensin II (Ang II) or of a wild-type receptor with an Ang II analog ([sarcosine1,Ile4,Ile8]Ang II) fails to activate classical heterotrimeric G protein signaling but does lead to ...

The Angiotensin II Type 2 Receptor for Pain Control [PDF]

open access: yesCell, 2014
All well-known deleterious effects of angiotensin (Ang) II, including vasoconstriction, inflammation, water and salt retention, and vascular remodeling, are mediated via its type 1 (AT1) receptor. This explains why AT1 receptor blockers (ARBs) and inhibitors of Ang II synthesis, such as ACE inhibitors and renin inhibitors, are beneficial for ...
