Angiotensin type-1 receptor blockers in heart failure
Progress in Cardiovascular Diseases, 2002Chronic heart failure is a common condition with a poor prognosis, usually associated with poor exercise tolerance and debilitating symptoms despite optimal modern therapy. Standard therapy includes diuretics, digoxin, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) and beta-blockers.

Endocytosis and signaling of angiotensin II type 1 receptor
2023A vasoactive octapeptide angiotensin II (Ang II) hormone is the key regulator of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS). It binds with the two different plasma membrane receptors like angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) and type 2 (AT2) and consequence various biological responses occur. Further, AT1 has two subtypes such as AT1A and AT1B.

Expression of type 1 angiotensin II receptors in human aldosteronomas
Endocrine Research, 1995Type 1 angiotensin II (AII) receptors (AT1 receptors), besides stimulation of aldosterone secretion, seem to transduce the growth factor-like activity of AII on glomerulosa cells. Although a local renin-angiotensin system and AII synthesis have been found in human adrenals and aldosteronomas, it is unclear whether aldosteronomas express AT1 receptors ...

Stimulation of ANP by angiotensin-(1-9) via the angiotensin type 2 receptor
Life Sciences, 2013Angiotensin-(1-9) [Ang-(1-9)] and Ang-(1-7) are cleaved by Ang converting enzyme 2 forming Ang I and Ang II, respectively, and the truncated Angs play a role in regulating atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) secretion. Previously, we found that Ang-(1-7) stimulates ANP secretion via the Mas receptor.

The distribution of angiotensin II type 1 receptors, and the tissue renin-angiotensin systems
Molecular Medicine Today, 1995Since its discovery, the functions of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) have attracted a great deal of attention, and the roles it plays under normal conditions, and in disease, acquire a deepening significance with every year. In general, the RAS has been considered largely in terms of its roles in sodium and potassium homeostasis and the regulation ...

Role of Type 1 and Type 2 Angiotensin Receptors in Angiotensin II–Induced Cardiomyocyte Hypertrophy
Hypertension, 1996We compared the ability of angiotensin II (Ang II) to induce hypertrophy of neonatal rat ventricular myocytes with that of endothelin-1. Over 72 hours, Ang II (1 μmol/L) increased the ratio of protein to DNA by less than 10%, whereas endothelin-1 (100 nmol/L) produced a 28% increase.

Valsartan: a novel angiotensin Type 1 receptor antagonist
Expert Opinion on Pharmacotherapy, 2000Valsartan is a highly selective, orally available antagonist of the angiotensin Type 1 (AT1) receptor. It is indicated for treatment of mild to moderate essential hypertension. Experimental studies have confirmed the abolition or attenuation of angiotensin II (AII)-related effects, such as vasoconstriction, cell growth promotion and aldosterone release.

[Angiotensin-2 type 1 receptors (AT1R) and cancers].
Nephrologie & therapeutique, 2013Recently, several meta-analysis suggested an increased risk of cancers linked to the use of antagonists of angiotensin-2 receptors or inhibitors of angiotensinogen converting enzyme. The results of epidemiological studies are conflicting. Meta-analysis as well as retrospective studies are not reliable and biased, since they have never been designed to ...

Gene Polymorphism of Angiotensin II Type 1 and Type 2 Receptors
Current Pharmaceutical Design, 2013Renin-angiotensin system (RAS) plays a key role in pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease and in the responsiveness for various types of medications. A large number of genetic investigations have been carried out to examine the association between gene variants of RAS and predisposition to cardiovascular diseases, such as hypertension, coronary artery ...

[Angiotensin II type 1 and type 2 receptor].
Nihon rinsho. Japanese journal of clinical medicine, 2009The octapeptide angiotensin II (AngII) plays a homeostatic role in the regulation of blood pressure and water and electrolyte balance, and contributes to the progression of cardiovascular remodeling. AngII activates AngII type 1 (AT1) receptor and type 2 (AT2) receptor, both of which belong to the seven-transmembrane, G protein-coupled receptor family.
