The dysregulation of innate immunity by Porphyromonas gingivalis in the etiology of Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, Volume 299, Issue 3, Page 328-348, March 2026.
Abstract The etiology of Alzheimer's disease (AD) remains under active debate. In this perspective, we explore the hypothesis that a primarily infection‐caused chronic dysregulation and weakening of human innate immunity via the underexpression, degradation, and inactivation of innate immune proteins necessary for direct antimicrobial effects and ...

Synovial Fluid Cell Counts and the Degree of Synovial Tissue Lymphocytic Inflammation in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesACR Open Rheumatology, Volume 8, Issue 2, February 2026.
Objective The synovial tissue pathotype may determine the treatment response in rheumatoid arthritis (RA); however, biopsies are not widely available. Synovial fluid is a promising tissue surrogate. Our purpose was to compare RA synovial fluid cell counts with histopathology and use synovial fluid to predict tissue inflammation.

TREM2 Drives Neutrophil Extracellular Traps‐Induced Dendritic Cell Maturation and Contributes to Lupus Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 7, 3 February 2026.
TREM2 recognizes NETs‐derived MPO to promote DC maturation and antigen presentation, thereby exacerbating the autoimmune response in SLE. Mechanistically, TREM2 activation triggers the DAP12/SYK/ERK cascade and enhances NETs internalization by DCs, which in turn activates the cGAS/STING signaling pathway.

Elevator‐Like Hollow Channels in Porous Scaffolds Accelerate Vascularized Bone Regeneration via NETs‐Fibrin‐Mediated Macrophage Recruitment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 9, 13 February 2026.
This study demonstrates that how hollow‐channel scaffolds promote vascularized bone regeneration via an immunomodulatory mechanism. The channel structures facilitate the formation of a neutrophil extracellular traps‐fibrin scaffold that recruits vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF‐A)‐secreting M2 macrophages to drive angiogenesis. Combining this
