Relationship between anti-GBM antibodies and kidney outcomes in patients with anti-GBM disease

Journal of Nephrology, 2022
Animal experiments have shown that anti-GBM antibodies play a pathogenic role in anti-GBM disease. However, the relationship between anti-GBM antibody levels and kidney outcomes in patients with anti-GBM disease is unclear. We performed a retrospective analysis of 110 patients diagnosed with anti-GBM disease.

Lambda-Light-Chain-Mediated Anti-GBM Disease

Nephron, 1989
A 77-year-old man presented with macroscopic haematuria and oligo-anuric renal failure. A renal biopsy showed moderate linear glomerular basement membrane (GBM) staining with lambda light chains alone, but both circulating IgG and lambda light chain activity were present.

Anti-GBM disease in pregnancy

BMJ Case Reports
We present the case of a pregnant woman in her 20s who presented in her second trimester with severe pulmonary haemorrhage and dialysis-dependent acute kidney failure due to antiglomerular basement membrane (GBM) disease. Responding to therapy, she recovered kidney function and delivered a baby.

Atypical anti-GBM disease in pregnancy

BMJ Case Reports
A woman in her 20s presented with nephrotic syndrome and hyperemesis in early pregnancy. Pertinent initial investigations revealed a severe acute kidney injury, a serum albumin of 19 g/L, a random protein creatinine ratio of 800 g/mol and microscopic haematuria.

Anti-GBM disease and ANCA during dengue infection

Clinical Nephrology, 2015
Anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) disease is a severe inflammatory renal disorder due to pathogenic autoantibodies directed mainly against the α3 chain of type IV collagen. In ~1/4 of patients with anti-GBM disease, antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) predominantly with myeloperoxidase (MPO) specificity can be detected.

Plasma Exchange in Anti-GBM Disease

1981
The last two decades have witnessed a striking increase in knowledge of immunological mechanisms responsible for allergic glomerular injury. One particular type has received much attention — that in which disease is caused by the development of auto-antibodies to glomerular basement membrane (GBM).

Glomerular Basement Membrane and Anti-GBM Antibody Disease

Nephron, 1981
The GBM is an important structure for the development of immunologic renal disease. It may serve as the primary antigen or as the site of deposition of immune complexes. The GBM is recognized as the major protein filtration barrier of the glomerulus.

Pulmonary-Renal Syndrome with a Focus on Anti-GBM Disease

Seminars in Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, 2011
Pulmonary-renal syndrome is a potentially life-threatening combination of pulmonary hemorrhage and acute renal failure. Several pathological entities can cause this syndrome. This review discusses the diagnostic strategy required to initiate appropriate therapy.
