A whole blood assay for antibody dependent phagocytosis of Plasmodium falciparum infected erythrocytes

open access: yesCommunications Medicine
Background Antibodies are used to protect against Plasmodium falciparum malaria. One antibody target, the variant surface antigens, is expressed on infected erythrocytes (IEs). Antibodies to these antigens can either block IE sequestration in the tissues,

Cyclophosphamide alters the tumor cell secretome to potentiate the anti-myeloma activity of daratumumab through augmentation of macrophage-mediated antibody dependent cellular phagocytosis

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2021
Multiple Myeloma (MM) is a malignant disorder of plasma cells which, despite significant advances in treatment, remains incurable. Daratumumab, the first CD38 directed monoclonal antibody, has shown promising activity alone and in combination with other ...

Vpu protects HIV-infected cells from antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis by counteracting tetherin

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: Tetherin is an interferon-inducible transmembrane protein that inhibits the detachment of enveloped viruses from infected cells. HIV-1 Vpu counteracts this restriction by removing tetherin from sites of virus release.

Development of a Virus Particle-Based Antibody-Dependent Cellular Phagocytosis (ADCP) Assay for HIV

open access: yes
Abstract Antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis (ADCP) is an Fc-mediated effector function that contributes to the clearance of pathogens, including HIV. Conventional bead-based ADCP assays using recombinant Env proteins offer scalability and reproducibility but do not recapitulate the structural, conformational and glycan features of

Impact of an aerosolized or intramuscular adenovirus type 5-vectored COVID-19 vaccine on Fc-mediated immune effector functions in a hybrid immunity population

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundBeyond the role of neutralizing antibodies in protecting against SARS-CoV-2, Fc-mediated antibodies functions may offer additional immune defense.

In Vivo Immunoscoring Technique to Monitor Anti‐CD47 Immunotherapy Efficacy in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2026.
Intravital imaging using MCP1‐FITC and dextran‐AF680 assesses macrophage targeting and polarization in murine 4T1 tumor models. Visualization of M1‐like and M2‐like macrophages and M1/M2 ratio quantification support evaluation of anti‐CD47 immunotherapy, highlighting the potential of macrophage‐targeted imaging for patient stratification and treatment ...

CLDN18.2 in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma: Biomarker assessment, spatial heterogeneity and therapeutic modality selection

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 5, October 2026.
This review presents a framework for selecting Claudin 18.2 (CLDN18.2)‐directed treatment modalities in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma according to tumour antigen coverage and spatial distribution. Representative assessment at baseline and reassessment after progression can guide treatment adaptation over time.

Integrative Multiomics Profiling Reveals Immune Determinants of Response to Disitamab Vedotin Plus Penpulimab in HER2‐Low Breast Cancer

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
This prospective single‐arm study evaluated neoadjuvant disitamab vedotin plus penpulimab in 20 patients with Stage II–III HER2‐low breast cancer. The regimen showed preliminary activity (pCR 20.0% intention‐to‐treat, 25.0% evaluable; ORR 56.3%) with manageable toxicity.

Associations Between Antibody Fc-Mediated Effector Functions and Long-Term Sequelae in Ebola Virus Survivors

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Antibodies that mediate non-neutralizing functions play an important role in the immune response to Ebola virus (EBOV) and are thought to impact disease outcome.

Bruton's Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors: Mechanisms, Efficacy, Toxicities and Applications for the Treatment of Human Diseases

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
BTK inhibitors suppress malignant B‐cell signaling while simultaneously reshaping immune regulation through effects on T cells and the tumor microenvironment. These mechanisms support combination immunotherapy strategies and also underlie the expanding application of BTK inhibitors in solid tumors, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
