A Quantitative Relationship Between Antibody Affinity and Antibody Avidity

Immunological Investigations, 1987
The relationship between antibody avidity, measured by the dissociation of the antigen-antibody bond in antigen excess, and antibody affinity was studied. Complexes of radiolabelled antigen and antibody of known affinity were prepared in vitro and allowed to stand for seven days to reach equilibrium.

Antibody Affinity Maturation by Computational Design

2018
The immune systems protect our bodies from foreign molecules or antigens, where antibodies play important roles. Antibodies evolve over time upon antigen encounter by somatically mutating their genome sequences. The end result is a series of antibodies that display higher affinities and specificities to specific antigens.

Purification of Antibodies Using Affinity Chromatography

2010
Affinity chromatography permits the isolation of a target analyte from a complex mixture and can be utilised to purify proteins, carbohydrates, drugs, haptens, or any analyte of interest once an affinity pair is available. It involves the exploitation of specific interactions between a binding affinity pair, such as those between an antibody and its ...

Antibody affinity and protection in virus infections

Current Opinion in Immunology, 1991
Affinity of viral antibodies matures slowly after primary virus infections. Recent investigations with human sera and mouse monoclonal antibodies have provided the first evidence for a role of antibody affinity in the pathogenesis of chronic virus infections.
