ABSTRACTImmunoglobulin Y (IgY) is central to our understanding of immunoglobulin evolution. It has links to antibodies from the ancestral IgM to the mucosal IgX and IgA, as well as to mammalian serum IgG and IgE. IgY is found in amphibians, birds and reptiles, and as their most abundant serum antibody, is orthologous to mammalian IgG.

Monoclonal antibodies against porcine immunoglobulin isotypes
Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology, 1987Monoclonal antibodies (MCAs) against porcine immunoglobulin isotypes* G, G1, G2, M and A have been produced and characterized in detail. Epitope analysis using a competitive direct enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) indicated that the MCAs recognized 3 class-specific epitopes of IgG, 4 epitopes specific for IgG1, 3 epitopes specific for IgG2, 2 ...

Isotype and glycoform selection for antibody therapeutics
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 2012We live in a hostile environment but are protected by the innate and adaptive immune system. A major component of the latter is mediated by antibody molecules that bind to pathogens, with exquisite specificity, and the immune complex formed activates cellular mechanisms leading to the removal and destruction of the complex. Five classes of antibody are

Effect of isotypes of antisperm antibodies on semen quality
International Journal of Andrology, 1992SummaryA direct immunobead test (IBT) was performed on 233 men who attended an immunological centre. Thirty‐four (14.6%) of these men were found to be positive (>20% binding) for antisperm antibodies (ASA). IgA, IgG and IgM were the most common sperm‐associated immunoglobulins.

Autoantigen arrays for multiplex analysis of antibody isotypes
PROTEOMICS, 2006AbstractWe describe here a microarray‐based method for multiplexed, antigen‐specific assessment of immunoglobulin (Ig) subclasses. We used 1152‐feature arrays composed of 140 antigens or antigen fragments to detect isotype‐specific mAb, to quantitatively monitor changes in isotype mAb concentration, and to profile antigen‐specific antibody isotype ...

Isotype Determination of Monoclonal Antibodies by Immunodiffusion
2003Immunodiffusion is an important qualitative method for the detection of antigens and antibodies. The technique may be used to determine the immunoglobulin heavy and light chain class and subclass of hybridoma antibodies. The monoclonal antibodies are allowed to diffuse toward anti-mouse isotype specific antisera in an agarose gel.

An enzyme immunoassay for rapid isotyping of monoclonal antibodies
Pathology, 1985An enzyme-immunoassay has been developed for rapid isotyping of murine monoclonal antibodies. This assay has several advantages over the commonly used typing methods. It does not require the presence of specific antigen. Typing plates can be prepared in advance and stored frozen.

IgG Subclasses and Isotypes of VH4-34 Encoded Antibodies
Immunological Investigations, 2015VH4-34 gene encoded autoantibodies are elevated in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and in other diseases associated with B-cell hyperproliferation/dysfunction. One of the autoantigens recognized by VH4-34-encoded antibodies are branched/linear poly N-acetyl lactosamine chains.

Production of monoclonal antibodies to six isotypes of horse immunoglobulin
Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology, 1998Stable clones of 18 mouse hybridomas that produce monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) to six isotypes of horse immunoglobulin were produced. The number of hybridomas of different specificities are: four to IgGa, four to IgGb, one to IgGc, four to IgG(T), two to IgM, and three to IgA.

Isotypic Antibody Response to Plaque Anaerobes in Periodontal Disease
Journal of Periodontology, 2002Background: It has been suggested that locally produced immunoglobulin (Ig)A could be more protective than IgG and that there could be a relationship between crevicular fluid‐specific IgA levels and the onset of periodontal disease. This study was designed to investigate this hypothesis regarding specific immune responses towards 4 plaque anaerobes in ...
