Isotypic antibody responses in cattle infected with Haemophilus somnus
Research in Veterinary Science, 1989Bovine antibody responses to Haemophilus somnus were compared on the basis of clinical and bacteriological findings. Serum IgG1 and IgM antibody titres were significantly increased in clinically normal cattle that were bacteriologically positive for H somnus from the nasal or vaginal mucosae compared with clinically normal, negative cows.

A solid-phase spot enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (spot-ELISA) using rat monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) and an image-processing system is described. This isotype-specific spot-ELISA permits the enumeration of antibody-secreting cells irrespective of the specificity of the secreted antibodies.

Switching the Isotype of Monoclonal Antibodies
1985Isotype switch variant selection is an important adjunct to monoclonal antibody technology. Through the production of hybridomas, we can now harness the specificity of the humoral immune response to generate virtually unlimited amounts of monoclonal antibody of desired specificity.

Anti-phospholipid antibody isotypes in normal human sera
Immunology Letters, 1990Heat-sensitive serum masking cofactor(s) of antiphospholipid antibody (aPL) in normal human sera (NHS) are specifically inactivated at 56 degrees C. The degree of binding in ELISA by unmasked aPL in NHS was equivalent to that in non-heated, aPL-reactive autoimmune SLE sera.

Expert Opinion on Biological Therapy, 2007
Recombinant monoclonal antibody (rMAb) therapy may be instituted to achieve one of two broad outcomes: i) killing of cells or organisms (e.g., cancer cells, bacteria); and ii) neutralisation of soluble molecules (e.g., cytokines in chronic disease or toxins in infection).

Isotypic Restriction of the Antibody Response to Human Immunodeficiency Virus
AIDS Research and Human Retroviruses, 1988HIV-infected individuals progress toward AIDS despite the early elicitation of a specific immune response. Analysis of the isotypic distribution of HIV -specific antibodies appears of special interest for two reasons: first, isotypic diversity is partly under the control of antigen-specific T-helper cells, the very cells infected ...

Antibodies recognizing both IgM isotypes in Atlantic salmon
Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2012Identification and characterization of subpopulations of cells involved in immunological reactions against invading organisms are essential for understanding defense mechanisms against disease. In lower vertebrates like teleost fish, as opposed to mammals, immune cell subsets are still poorly defined, mostly due to the lack of appropriate working tools

Within 6 hours after primary immunization the serum of mice contains a unique form of processed antigen which is complexed with immunoglobulin (Ig). These complexes are formed through the mediation of a T cell factor and markedly enhance in vivo the 7s antibody response.

[Isotypic regulation of antibodies and antibiotics].
Pathologie-biologie, 1994Several reports have shown that antibiotics can in vitro interfere with many aspects of the immune response such as phagocytic processes, macrophage functions, T and B cell proliferation. Very few data on the effect of antibiotics on the antibody response were available.

The intraclnal diversity and control of antibody isotype swith recombination
International Immunology, 1990The configuration of the expressed and unexpressed IgH alleles within two groups of hybridomas, both derived from single clones of B cells at an intermediate stage of the immune response of one mouse, were characterized. The data obtained confirm that individual 'naive' B cells are totipotent in their capacity to generate, via deletions in the IgH ...
