Dicentrine, an Aporphine Alkaloid From Ocotea langsdorffii, Induces Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Oxidative Stress in Leishmania (L.) infantum

Identification of a Benzenesulfonylpiperazine Derivative With In Vivo Efficacy Against Visceral Leishmaniasis

This work highlights the satisfactory pharmacokinetic profile of two benzenesulfonylpiperazine lead candidates, followed by in vivo assessment in a murine model of visceral leishmaniasis. This assessment identified compound 2 as moderately active at a lower dose, but its efficacy increased at higher doses, though with concerns regarding safety.

Probing 5‐Nitroimidazole‐Triazole Hybrids as Potential Anti‐Kinetoplastid Agents: Synthesis and In Vitro Efficacy

A series of 5‐nitroimidazole‐1,2,3‐triazole hybrids was synthesised and evaluated for antitrypanosomatid activity to assess their potential as treatments against leishmaniasis and trypanosomiasis. No notable in vitro activity against Leishmania was detected.
