Automated fluorometric assay of antimycin A
Analytical Biochemistry, 1967Abstract A modification of the manual spectrophotofluorometric assay of antimycin A is described whereby the antibiotic present in fermentation broths or ethanolic solution can be estimated automatically at the rate of 30 samples an hour. Results are in good agreement with those obtained with the manual assay.

Oxidative pathways insensitive to antimycin A
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1954Abstract 1. 1. Antimycin A inhibited oxygen uptake in the DPN-coupled oxidation of malate to the extent of, respectively, 81, 33, 17, and 3% in homogenates of heart, kidney, liver, and Flexner-Jobling carcinoma. The equivalent figures for the DPN-coupled oxidation of d -glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate were, respectively, 98, 18, 31, and 33%. 2. 2.

Total Synthesis of the (+)‐Antimycin A3 Family: Structure Elucidation of (+)‐Antimycin A3a.
ChemInform, 2003Abstract (+)-Antimycin A3a (AA3a), one component of the natural antibiotic antimycin A3, was synthesized using an asymmetric aza-Claisen rearrangement. The stereochemistry at the 2′ position on the acyloxy side chain of AA3a was established as S-configuration by comparison of the synthetic AA3a and the natural AA3a.

An Evaluation of Antimycin a as a Parasiticide
Transactions of the American Fisheries Society, 1974Abstract The parasiticidal activity of Antimycin A was tested against Cleidodiscus pricei Mueller, 1936 on fingerling and adult channel catfish, Ictalurus punctatus (Raf.). C. pricei was eliminated from two groups of fingerlings after 24 hr and 48 hr at Antimycin A concentrations of 0.5 μg, 1.0 μg, and 5.0 μg/liter. In two field tests, C.

Antimycin-insensitive mutants of Candida utilis. II. The effects of antimycin on cytochrome b
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 19751. Cytochrome b-562 is more reduced in submitochondrial particles of mutant 28 during the aerobic steady-state respiration with succinate than in particles of the wild type. When anaerobiosis is reached, the reduction of cytochrome b is preceded by a rapid reoxidation in the mutnat.

Abstract 1. Pretreatment of sub-mitochondrial particles with cholate results in a change in the curve describing inhibition by antimycin of the succinate-cytochrome c reductase from sigmoidal towards linear. This effect of cholate is reversed by partial removal of the cholate by dialysis, either in the absence or presence of antimycin.

Oxidoreduction of cytochrome b in the presence of antimycin
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1972Abstract 1. The effect of oxidizing equivalents on the redox state of cytochrome b in the presence of antimycin has been studied in the presence and absence of various redox mediators. 2. The antimycin-induced extra reduction of cytochrome b is always dependent on the initial presence of an oxidant such as oxygen.

Deformamidoazidoantimycin A (DAA), a photoactive derivative of antimycin A containing an azido group substituting for the formamido group attached to the phenyl ring, was synthesized. The ultraviolet spectrum of DAA was almost identical to that of antimycin A, indicating little alteration of the electronic structure of the substituted phenyl ring by ...
