Antioxidant therapy in inborn metabolic diseases
Oxidative stress contributes to the pathophysiology of several inherited metabolic diseases (IMDs). The quality and extent of clinical evidence for the use of antioxidant therapies in IMDs have yet to be ascertained. Despite frequent clinical use, robust evidence from large-scale trials is limited.

An injectable cyanobacteria‐laden hydrogel enables light‐dependent oxygen metabolism engineering for osteoarthritis therapy. Photosynthetic oxygen release under red light irradiation suppresses synovial inflammation via HIF‐1α inhibition and M2 macrophage polarization, while respiratory oxygen consumption in darkness stabilizes chondrocyte HIF‐1α to ...

Maternal nutritional status, C1 metabolism and offspring DNA methylation: a review of current evidence in human subjects. [PDF]
: Evidence is growing for the long-term effects of environmental factors during early-life on later disease susceptibility. It is believed that epigenetic mechanisms (changes in gene function not mediated by DNA sequence alteration), particularly DNA ...

The environment within: how gut microbiota may influence metabolism and body composition [PDF]
Obesity, diabetes and consequently atherosclerotic vascular disease have become major health and public health issues worldwide. The increasing and staggering prevalence of obesity might not only be explained by nutritional habits or the reduction of ...

The antioxidative role of anthocyanins in Arabidopsis under high-irradiance
To uncover the potential antioxidative role of anthocyanins in vivo in protecting photosynthetic tissues from photoinhibition, the effects of high irradiance [HI, 1300 μmol(photon) m-2 s-1] were studied using detached leaves derived from Arabidopsis wild-
