Electrophysiological properties of the dorsal motor nucleus of the vagus motoneurones controlling airway mucus secretion in rats

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Acidosis depolarises parasympathetic respiratory motoneurones in the dorsal motor nucleus of the vagus (DMV) and increases their firing frequency by reducing TWIK‐2 channel conductance. Acidosis also activates astrocytes, which further enhance neuronal excitability through NMDA receptor‐dependent glutamatergic signalling.

Fulminant brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome in a 3‐month‐old French bulldog

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, November 2026.
Abstract A 3‐month‐old, entire, female French bulldog (6.4 kg) presented in severe respiratory distress with hyperthermia and cyanosis. Laryngeal examination revealed severe obstruction by oedematous tissue, later confirmed as bilaterally everted laryngeal saccules; the airway was stabilised by tracheal intubation.

High Doses of N‐Acetyl‐P‐Aminophenol Cause Acute Changes in Electroencephalographic and Electrocardiographic Activities in Wistar Rats

open access: yesBasic &Clinical Pharmacology &Toxicology, Volume 139, Issue 5, November 2026.
ABSTRACT N‐acetyl‐p‐aminophenol (APAP), or acetaminophen, is the most prescribed analgesic and antipyretic, even used in association with other drugs. Because it is easily bought in drugstores, much evidence about its toxic effects is known due to high doses or continuous use, which can lead to death in cases of intoxication.

Protective Effects of a Cissus quadrangularis Stem Peel Ash Derived Salt Against Streptozotocin Induced Cellular Injury in SH‐SY5Y Cells

open access: yesApplied Research, Volume 5, Issue 5, October 2026.
Cissus quadrangularis stem peel‐derived bio salt protects SH‐SY5Y neuroblastoma cells against streptozotocin‐induced neurotoxicity by reducing oxidative stress, suppressing apoptosis, and improving cell viability. These findings highlight its potential as a natural neuroprotective agent for neurodegenerative disorders.

Severe Plasmodium vivax Malaria Complicated by Secondary Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis, Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation, and Acute Pancreatitis: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Plasmodium vivax (P. vivax) malaria, once regarded as a comparatively benign infection, is increasingly recognized as a cause of severe, potentially life‐threatening multisystem disease. Concurrent secondary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), and acute pancreatitis complicating P.
