Bilateral Avascular Necrosis of the Femoral Heads in Ankylosing Spondylitis Requiring Staged Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Case Report of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Challenges

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic immune‐mediated inflammatory arthropathy primarily affecting the axial skeleton but may involve peripheral joints, particularly the hips. Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head represents a severe, underrecognized complication whose pathogenesis in AS is multifactorial—encompassing disease ...

Quantitative Studies on Antithrombin.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1940
SummaryA method is devised for the quantitative determination of antithrombic activity of serum and plasma. One unit of antithrombin is defined as that amount which will inactivate or neutralize 1 unit of thrombin in 4 minutes' incubation at 28°C. There is little or no quantitative difference in the antithrombin of serum and plasma.

A Prothrombotic Shift: Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis in the Recovery Phase of Dengue Fever—A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Post‐dengue cerebral venous sinus thrombosis is an uncommon complication of dengue fever. It occurs due to a prothrombotic shift during the recovery or critical phase of dengue fever, presenting usually as a persistent headache. Prompt neuroimaging and anticoagulation are crucial to a favorable prognosis, even in the presence of hemorrhagic ...

Chronic Antithrombinaemia (Antithrombin V) with Haemorrhagic Diathesis in a Case of Rheumatoid Arthritis with Hypergammaglobulinaemia

open access: yes, 1957
SummaryA report is represented on a 44-year-old patient suffering, since 1938, from very slowly progressive rheumatoid arthritis. Haemorrhagic manifestations have been seen since 1951 (large cutaneous and muscular haemorrhages, microhaematuria and ...

Multi‐Omics Analyses Elucidate the Venom Components of the Wasp Vespa mandarinia

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
The wasp Vespa mandarinia was widely reared in Yunnan province. The venom was responsible for their aggressive behavior. Tweety proteases, hyaluronidase, venom dipeptidyl peptidase 4, and phospholipase A1 and A2 isozyme were identified. In addition, organic heterocyclic compounds, organic acids, and derivatives were found.

Microheterogeneity of antithrombin III: Effect of single amino acid substitutions and relationship with functional abnormalities

open access: yes, 1994
Microheterogeneity of antithrombin III (AT-III) was investigated by crossed immunoelectrofocusing (CIEF) on eleven molecular variants. A normal pattern was found in five variants while two different abnormal CIEF patterns were found in the other four and

Measurement of Active Thrombin Bound to Circulating D‐Dimers as a Sensitive Biomarker for Prothrombotic Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 40, Issue 11, June 2026.
Scheme of preparation of D‐dimers and evaluation of D‐dimer‐bound thrombin activity. Thrombin bound to fibrin participates in ongoing fibrinogen transformation and its inhibition is impeded. Our detection system may aid in identifying patients at risk of recurrent thrombotic events or complications, regardless of the origin of the acute health problem.
