Atrial Fibrillation and Hyperthyroidism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Atrial fibrillation occurs in 10 – 15% of patients with hyperthyroidism. Low serum thyrotropin concentration is an independent risk factor for atrial fibrillation. Thyroid hormone contributes to arrythmogenic activity by altering the electrophysiological

Neonatal Surveillance Gaps in Maternal Graves' Disease: Findings From a Queensland Maternity Hospital

open access: yesAustralian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Volume 66, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Graves' disease presents unique challenges in pregnancy due to the risk of neonatal morbidity and mortality from maternal TSH Receptor antibodies (TRAb). A maternity hospital in Queensland has implemented a policy to identify at‐risk neonates and facilitate follow‐up, including cord blood TRAb, thyroid function tests (TFTs), and ...

Zinc(II)-methimazole complexes: synthesis and reactivity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The tetrahedral S-coordinated complex [Zn(MeImHS)(4)](ClO4)(2), synthesised from the reaction of [Zn(ClO4)(2)] with methimazole (1-methyl-3H-imidazole-2-thione, MeImHS), reacts with triethylamine to yield the homoleptic complex [Zn(MeImS)(2)] (MeImS ...

Synthesis and Characterization of Sulfonamide‐Schiff Bases, and Investigation of Cytotoxic, Antioxidant, HDAC, and Apoptotic Activities in Human Colon Cancer Cells (DLD‐1 and HT‐29)

open access: yesArchiv der Pharmazie, Volume 359, Issue 4, April 2026.
New sulfonamide‐Schiff bases were synthesized, characterized, and investigated for their cytotoxic, antioxidant, HDAC, and apoptotic activities in human colon cancer cells (DLD‐1 and HT‐29). Compounds 3c and 3d emerged as promising candidates to act as selective therapeutic agents by targeting the p38/MAPK‐ERK1 pathway in colorectal cancer.

Prediction of response to medical therapy by serum soluble (pro)renin receptor levels in Graves' disease.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Antithyroid drugs are generally selected as the first-line treatment for Graves' Disease (GD); however, the existence of patients showing resistance or severe side effects to these drugs is an important issue to be solved. The (pro)renin receptor [(P)RR]

Antithyroid Drug-induced Agranulocytosis

open access: yesJournal of the Chinese Medical Association, 2009
Antithyroid drugs are widely used to treat hyperthyroidism, especially Graves' disease, but they tend to cause agranulocytosis, which increases the mortality rate. Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor decreases the duration of recovery from agranulocytosis.

A Review on Medicinal Chemistry and Biological Activity of Dihydropyrimidinones Against HIV

open access: yesArchiv der Pharmazie, Volume 359, Issue 4, April 2026.
This article presents the latest advances in the development of dihydropyrimidinone (DHPM) derivatives as promising candidates against HIV. By exploring their interactions with essential viral targets and highlighting innovative compounds with potent antiviral activity, we provide an updated perspective on the opportunities for new antiretroviral ...
