Synthesis and Antitrypanosomal Profile of Novel Hydrazonoyl Derivatives

Medicinal Chemistry, 2020
Background: Approximately, 5-7 million people are infected with T. cruzi in the world, and approximately 10,000 people per year die of complications linked to this disease. Method: This work describes the construction of a new family of hidrazonoyl substituted derivatives, structurally designed exploring the molecular hybridization between megazol ...

Effect of verapamil on antitrypanosomal activity of drugs in mice

Acta Tropica, 1993
The effects of verapamil on drug responses of Trypanosoma brucei brucei were studied to determine whether drug resistance of this organism could be related to expression of a drug resistance gene as has been described for drug-resistant cancer cells and malaria.

Novel alkylpolyaminoguanidines and alkylpolyaminobiguanides with potent antitrypanosomal activity

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2006
A series of polyaminoguanidines and polyaminobiguanides were synthesized and evaluated as potential antitrypanosomal agents. These analogues inhibit trypanothione reductase (TR) with IC50 values as low as 0.95 microM, but do not inhibit the closely related human enzyme glutathione reductase (GR).

Antitrypanosomal isoflavan quinones from Abrus precatorius

Fitoterapia, 2014
Human African trypanosomiasis is a neglected tropical disease in sub Saharan Africa that is fatal if left untreated. In a search for new natural products with antitrypanosomal activity, we recently identified abruquinones B and I from Abrus precatorius as potent in vitro trypanocidal compounds with high selectivity indices.

Antitrypanosomal Action of Cis-Diamminedichloroplatinum (II) Analogs

The Journal of Parasitology, 1987
The present report deals with the alterations produced by cis-diamminedichloroplatinum (II) (DDP), and 2 of its analogs: cis-Pt(II)(tranylcypromine)2Cl2 and cis-Pt(II)(benzothiazole)2Cl2 in cultured epimastigote forms of Trypanosoma cruzi. Studies have been performed at the ultrastructural level and the inhibitory effect of these complexes on ...

Antileishmanial and Antitrypanosomal Activities of Flavonoids

2018
This chapter focuses on the ability of flavonoid aglycones and glycosides to inhibit the growth of protozoan parasites of the genera Leishmania and Trypanosoma in different in vitro and in vivo models, namely pathogenic species for humans implicated in visceral (L. donovani, L. infantum) and cutaneous leishmaniasis (L. braziliensis, L.
