Apelin receptor (APJ) expression during cardiopulmonary bypass in children undergoing surgical repair. [PDF]
In human adults, and animals, the Apelin-APJ ligand-receptor system is emerging as having a role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular function and heart failure. The aim was to investigate expression, and regulation by oxygen, of the Apelin APJ receptor

The Role of Apelin–APJ System in Diabetes and Obesity
Nowadays, diabetes and obesity are two main health-threatening metabolic disorders in the world, which increase the risk for many chronic diseases. Apelin, a peptide hormone, exerts its effect by binding with angiotensin II protein J receptor (APJ) and ...

The Role of the Apelin/APJ System in the Regulation of Liver Disease [PDF]
Apelin is an endogenous peptide that is a ligand for the APJ receptor (angiotensin II receptor like-1, AT-1). The apelin/APJ system is distributed in diverse periphery organ tissues.

APJ acts as a dual receptor in cardiac hypertrophy [PDF]
Cardiac hypertrophy is initiated as an adaptive response to sustained overload but progresses pathologically as heart failure ensues. Here we report that genetic loss of APJ, a G-protein-coupled receptor, confers resistance to chronic pressure overload by markedly reducing myocardial hypertrophy and heart failure.

Biphenyl Acid Derivatives as APJ Receptor Agonists
The APJ receptor and its endogenous peptidic ligand apelin have been implicated as important modulators of cardiovascular function, and APJ receptor agonists may be beneficial in the treatment of heart failure. In this article, we describe the discovery of a series of biphenyl acid derivatives as potent APJ receptor agonists.

Cancer apelin receptor suppresses vascular mimicry in malignant melanoma
Several reports indicate that apelin is often over-expressed in tumors, and therefore it has been suggested that the apelin–apelin receptor (APJ) system may induce tumor progression.

Study Progression of Apelin/APJ Signaling and Apela in Different Types of Cancer
Apelin is an endogenous ligand that binds to the G protein-coupled receptor angiotensin-like-receptor 1 (APJ). Apelin and APJ are widely distributed in organs and tissues and are involved in multiple physiological and pathological processes including ...

Expression of the apelinergic system and its influence on functional properties of tumor cells
mall peptide Apelin and its cognate receptor APJ, are known to play a role in tumor angiogenesis and overall cancer progession. Certain authors suggest that the Apelin receptor is also a factor in cancer immunotherapy.

TNF-α Suppresses Apelin Receptor Expression in Mouse Quadriceps Femoris-Derived Cells
Expression of the apelin receptor, APJ, in skeletal muscle (SM) is known to decrease with age, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Increased tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α levels are observed in SM with age and are associated with muscle atrophy.
