Endothelial lipase is less effective at influencing HDL metabolism in vivo in mice expressing apoA-II

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2006
Endothelial lipase (EL) plays an important physiological role in modulating HDL metabolism. Data suggest that plasma contains an inhibitor of EL, and previous studies have suggested that apolipoprotein A-II (apoA-II) inhibits the activity of several ...

Assessment of apolipoprotein B/apolipoprotein A-I ratio in non-ST segment elevation acute coronary syndrome patients

open access: yesThe Egyptian Heart Journal, 2020
Background The apolipoprotein B/apolipoprotein A-I ratio was shown to be strongly related to the risk of myocardial infarction in several large-scale studies.

D-4F-mediated reduction in metabolites of arachidonic and linoleic acids in the small intestine is associated with decreased inflammation in low-density lipoprotein receptor-null mice

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2012
To test the hypothesis that intestine is a major site of action for D-4F, LDLR−/− mice were fed a Western diet (WD) and administered the peptide subcutaneously (SQ) or orally.

High Density Lipoproteins Inhibit Oxidative Stress-Induced Prostate Cancer Cell Proliferation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Recent evidence suggests that oxidative stress can play a role in the pathogenesis and the progression of prostate cancer (PCa). Reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation is higher in PCa cells compared to normal prostate epithelial cells and this ...

Crossroads between peripheral atherosclerosis, western-type diet and skeletal muscle pathophysiology: emphasis on apolipoprotein E deficiency and peripheral arterial disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory process that, in the presence of hyperlipidaemia, promotes the formation of atheromatous plaques in large vessels of the cardiovascular system.

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Estimating the level of carbamoylated plasma non-high-density lipoproteins using infrared spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background: The increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality observed in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients can be partly explained by the presence of carbamoylated lipoproteins. Lipid profiles can be determined with infrared spectroscopy. In this

Apolipoprotein A-I: structure-function relationships.

open access: yesJournal of lipid research, 2000
The inverse relationship between high density lipoprotein (HDL) plasma levels and coronary heart disease has been attributed to the role that HDL and its major constituent, apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I), play in reverse cholesterol transport (RCT). The efficiency of RCT depends on the specific ability of apoA-I to promote cellular cholesterol efflux ...

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.
