This study demonstrated elevated levels of fecal component 3 (C3) and fibronectin (FN) in an ulcerative colitis (UC) mouse model. Importantly, fecal C3 exhibited a stronger correlation with disease activity than the clinically used fecal calprotectin (FC).

Multimorbidity and Associations with Cognition and Alzheimer's Disease Biomarkers
Objective Multimorbidity, the coexistence of 2 or more chronic conditions, has been linked to cognitive aging and Alzheimer's disease (AD) and AD‐related dementias, yet the mechanisms remain unclear. We aimed to examine the associations of multimorbidity with cognition and biomarkers across multiple mechanistic pathways.

Role of Apolipoprotein D and Its Homologs, in Normal and Pathological Aging, in Drosophila melanogaster [PDF]
The free radical theory of aging is probably the most enduring one to date. It stipulates that, in the process of normal cellular function, in particular due to oxygen-based respiration, reactive oxygen species are formed.

Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension Is Characterized by a Distinct Proteomic Profile
Objectives The pathophysiology of idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) is poorly understood and disease‐specific biomarkers are lacking. We aimed to shed light on IIH pathophysiology and identify disease‐specific biomarkers. Methods This prospective cross‐sectional cohort study included patients with new‐onset IIH and age‐, body mass index‐, and ...

Although gene transfer of human apolipoprotein E (apoE), a 34-kDa circulating glycoprotein, to the liver of apoEdeficient(apoE-/-) mice using recombinant adenoviral vectors (rAd) is antiatherogenic, its full therapeutic potentialhas yet to be realized ...

Apolipoprotein E and Alzheimer’s Disease: State of the Field After Two Years
In October 1992, at the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center Directors’ meeting at the Society for Neurosciences (Anaheim, California), we reported that the apolipoprotein E-ε4 allele frequency was increased in late-onset familial Alzheimer’s disease ...

Therapeutic Applications of Stimuli‐Based Release and Engineering of Extracellular Vesicles
This review summarizes the effects of endogenous and exogenous stimuli, their effects on the natural release of extracellular vesicles, as well as their uptake and release. It also gives an overview of stimuli‐responsive EVs and their therapeutic applications. Extracellular vesicles (EVs), nano‐ to microsized lipid bilayer membrane‐bound particles, are
