Rapid induction of arachidonic acid release by monocyte chemotactic protein-1 and related chemokines. Role of Ca2+ influx, synergism with platelet-activating factor and significance for chemotaxis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Monocyte Chemotactic Protein-1 (MCP-1), a member of the Cys-Cys branch of the chemokine superfamily, induced a mepacrine- and manoalide-sensitive increase in the release of [3H]arachidonic acid from prelabeled human monocytes and monocytic THP-1 leukemic

Embryo-derive TNF promotes decidualization via fibroblast activation

open access: yeseLife, 2023
Decidualization is a process in which endometrial stromal fibroblasts differentiate into specialized secretory decidual cells and essential for the successful establishment of pregnancy.

Release of Brain Mitochondrial Hexokinase by Acidic Proteins and Macromolecular Polyanions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2005
Preparations of arachidonic acid binding and non-binding proteins from bovine brain, four acidic proteins (alpha-casein, phosvitin, beta-lactoglobulin A and B), the peptide polyglutamate, and two polyanions (heparin, dextran sulfate) enhanced both basal and glucose 6-phosphate induced solubilization of rat brain mitochondrial hexokinase (ATP:D-hexose 6-

Geometric-algebraic approach to aqueous solutions of diprotic acids and its buffer mixtures [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
A closed-form analytical expression for $\ce{[H3O+]}$ has been obtained for aqueous solutions of diprotic acids and its soluble salts. This formula allows to calculate the pH of aqueous solutions of diprotic acids, their buffer solutions, and the titrations of these two by a strong base, from the values of p$K_1$, p$K_2$, and the effective ...

Production of a soluble and functional recombinant apolipoproteinD in the Pichia pastoris expression system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
ApolipoproteinD (ApoD) is a human glycoprotein from the lipocalin family. ApoD contains a conserved central motif of an 8-stranded antiparallel β-sheet, which forms a beta-barrel that can be used for transport and storage of diverse hydrophobic ligands ...

Ultrasound assisted interesterification for enhancing productivity of oxidative sensitive docosahexanoic acid ‐enriched medium‐and‐long chain triacylglycerol synthesis

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
Abstract The synthesis of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)‐enriched medium‐ and long‐chain triacylglycerols (MLCT), particularly with DHA at the sn‐2 position and medium chain fatty acids (MCFA) at the sn‐1,3 positions, is a promising strategy to enhance DHA bioavailability.

Arachidonic acid-dependent inhibition of adipocyte differentiation requires PKA activity and is associated with sustained expression of cyclooxygenases

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2003
Arachidonic acid inhibits adipocyte differentiation of 3T3-L1 cells via a prostaglandin synthesis-dependent pathway. Here we show that this inhibition requires the presence of a cAMP-elevating agent during the first two days of treatment.

Metabolomic analysis reveals the molecular mechanism related to leg abnormality in broilers

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract shows the principal results of this study. Compared to the leg normal broilers, the serum calcium to phosphorus ratio was extremely decreased in the group with deformed leg bones. Additionally, a total of nine differential metabolites significantly associated with leg abnormalities and serum calcium and phosphorus levels were ...

Role of triglycerides in endothelial cell arachidonic acid metabolism.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1983
Arachidonic acid was incorporated into triglycerides by cultured bovine endothelial cells in a time- and concentration-dependent manner. At 75 microM or higher, more arachidonic acid was incorporated into triglycerides than into phospholipids.

Level of Arachidonic Acid and State of Peroxidation Processes in Patients with Aspirin-Intolerant Polypous Rhinosinusitis

open access: yesGalician Medical Journal, 2016
The main peculiarity of aspirin-intolerant polypous rhinosinusitis pathogenesis is the presence of “genetic block” of constitutive cyclooxygenase being the key enzyme of the arachidonic acid metabolism.
