Inherited metabolic epilepsies–established diseases, new approaches

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Inherited metabolic epilepsies (IMEs) represent the inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs) in which epilepsy is a prevailing component, often determining other neurodevelopmental outcomes associated with the disorder. The different metabolic pathways affected by individual IMEs are the basis of their rarity and heterogeneity.

Effects of salt and osmotic stresses on free polyamine content and expression of polyamine biosynthetic genes in Vitis vinifera

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2011
Grape (Vitis vinifera L.) seedlings grown in vitro were treated with either 200 mM NaCl or 350 mM mannitol for 7 d. Both salinity and osmotic stress caused significant increase in electrolyte leakage. From the three commonly occurring free polyamines (PA)

Microbial Interventions in Processing of Plant Based Proteins: Unlocking Extraction Dynamics and Functionality for Human Health

open access: yesFood Bioengineering, EarlyView.
Fermentation enhances nutritional & techno‐functional properties of plant protein. Three distinct stages of fermentation impact on different aspects of plant protein. Fermentation induces flavors modulation through new organic compounds formation. Plant protein fermentation improves their utility in food applications.

Pyruvoyl-Dependent Arginine Decarboxylase from Methanococcus jannaschii Crystal Structures of the Self-Cleaved and S53A Proenzyme Forms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The three-dimensional structure of pyruvoyl-dependent arginine decarboxylase from Methanococcus jannaschii was determined at 1.4 Å resolution. The pyruvoyl group of arginine decarboxylase is generated by an autocatalytic internal serinolysis reaction at ...

Exogenous L-Arginine Enhances Pathogenicity of Alternaria alternata on Kiwifruit by Regulating Metabolisms of Nitric Oxide, Polyamines, Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), and Cell Wall Modification

open access: yesJournal of Fungi
Black spot, one of the major diseases of kiwifruit, is caused by Alternaria alternata. A comprehensive investigation into its pathogenicity mechanism is imperative in order to propose a targeted and effective control strategy. The effect of L-arginine on
