In vivo conversion of [des-Asp1]-angiotensin I to [des-Asp1]-angiotensin II in conscious sheep.

Clinical and experimental pharmacology & physiology. Supplement, 1983
1. A method is described for the measurement of [des-Asp1]-angiotensin I (ANG I 1/2) in blood. 2. Exogenous ANG I 1/2 was rapidly metabolized in conscious sodium replete sheep. 3. Inhibition of angiotensin converting enzyme activity by SQ 14 225 (captopril) abolished the production of angiotensin III (ANG III) and the pressor response to infused ANG I ...

Nonallelism for the Audiogenic Seizure Prone (ASP1) and the Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor (AHR) Loci in Mice

Journal of Neurogenetics, 1998
Previous studies showed an association between the Ahr locus on Chr 12 and a major gene, Asp1, that influences susceptibility to audiogenic seizures (AGS) in mice. Although the association was thought to involve close linkage, a pleiotropic effect of the Ahr locus on AGS susceptibility was not excluded.

Transfer and Expression of an Artificial Storage Protein (ASP1) Gene in Cassava (Manihot Esculenta Crantz)

Transgenic Research, 2003
In order to increase the nutritional quality of cassava storage roots, which contain up to 85% starch of their dry weight, but are deficient in protein, a synthetic ASP1 gene encoding a storage protein rich in essential amino acids (80%) was introduced into embryogenic suspensions of cassava via Agrobacterium-mediated gene transfer.

[DES-ASP1] angiotensin II in the sheep: Blood levels and its effect on plasma renin concentration

Life Sciences, 1980
Abstract The present study describes an improved method for measuring angiotensin III in arterial blood. This was accomplished by SE-sephadex column to separate angiotensin II from angiotensin III prior to radioimmunoassay. The arterial concentration of angiotensin III measured before and after 24 to 48 hours sodium depletion by acute cannulation of ...

Synthesis, characterization, and biological activity of Nα-(N-fluoresceinthiocarbamoyl)-(Asp1, Ile5)-angiotensin II

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1982
Abstract A fluorescent analog of angiotensin II was synthesized by reacting fluorescein 5′-isothiocyanate with (Asp1, Ile5)-angiotensin II. Nα-(N-Fluoresceinthiocarbamoyl)-(Asp1, Ile5)-angiotensin II was purified by chromatography on DEAE-cellulose and Sephadex G-25. Analysis of the analog by thin-layer chromatography, thin-layer electrophoresis, and

[Des-Asp1] angiotensin II: mediator of the renin-angiotensin system?

Federation proceedings, 1977
Angiotensin II and its C-terminal heptapeptide fragment, [des-Asp1]angiotensin II, influence a variety of angiotensin receptors in a qualitatively similar manner. On the basis of potency studies, angiotensin II appears to be the important mediator of the renin-angiotensin system at the peripheral arteriolar receptors to maintain arterial blood pressure.

Disulfide pairing and secondary structure of ASP1, an olfactory‐binding protein from honeybee (Apis mellifera L)

The Journal of Peptide Research, 2001
Abstract: In insects, the transport of airborne, hydrophobic odorants and pheromones through the sensillum lymph is accomplished by olfactory‐binding proteins (OBPs). We report the structural characterization of a honeybee OBP called ASP1 found in workers and drones, previously observed to bind queen pheromone components.

[Asp1, Val5] Angiotensin-(1–8)octapeptide Does Not Stimulate Aldosterone Secretion in Sodium-Depleted Sheep

Clinical Science, 1981
1. To test the hypothesis that [Asp1,Val5]-angiotensin-(1–8)octapeptide ([Asp1,Val5]ANG II) is a more potent agonist to aldosterone secretion in the sodium-depleted animal than is [Asn1,Val5]angiotensin-(1–8)octapeptide ([Asn1,Val5]ANG II), local adrenal arterial infusion of the two peptides has been carried out in sheep with cervical adrenal ...

Biological activity of des-asp1-des-arg2-angiotensin II in man.

Acta endocrinologica, 1982
The biological activity of des-asp1-des-arg2-angiotensin II (3-8AII) was studied in man. When 3-8AII was infused iv at rates of 22 and 308 pmol (17.5 and 250 ng)/kg . min separately into 5 normal men each for 120 min, blood pressure showed no change, plasma renin activity (PRA) decreased gradually and plasma aldosterone showed a gradual slight increase.
