Biocontrol of Aflatoxigenic Maize Molds Using Lactobacillus spp.‐Based Formulations

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 10, October 2025.
This study reviews Lactobacillus spp. use to combat aflatoxin contamination in food, specifically maize. Aflatoxins, produced by Aspergillus molds, are dangerous mycotoxins. Current control methods have limitations, prompting exploration of biocontrol alternatives.

Aflatoxin Contamination in Agri‐Food Systems: A Comprehensive Review of Toxicity, Food Security, Economic Impacts, and Sustainable Mitigation Across the Value Chain

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 10, October 2025.
Toxic and carcinogenic aflatoxins from Aspergillus contaminate global staple crops, threatening food security, public health, and causing $6–18B in annual economic losses. Climate change, poor agricultural and post‐harvest practices, and socioeconomic constraints intensify aflatoxin contamination risks. Sustainable mitigation strategies from biocontrol

Genomic Loci for Sclerotinia Stem Rot Resistance and Chlorophyll Stability in Brassica napus: Integrating GWAS With Microbiome Insights

open access: yesPlant-Environment Interactions, Volume 6, Issue 5, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Sclerotinia Stem Rot (SSR) disease is one of the most serious diseases affecting the yield and quality of oilseed rape (Brassica napus). Understanding the genetic basis of the resistance trait in oilseed rape to SSR and microbiome composition for enhanced resistance is crucial for developing resistant varieties and sustainably mitigating the ...

Stress in dipteran insects mass‐reared for sterile insect technique applications

open access: yesInsect Science, Volume 32, Issue 5, Page 1495-1523, October 2025.
The connections between biotic and abiotic stress affecting mass‐reared dipteran insects and the associated stress and immunological responses. Numbers indicate the order in which the topics are discussed in this review. Abstract Stress may be viewed as the disturbance of homeostasis of an organism.
